Well, I'm currently Alienware m15x user with GF9800M GT and installed 181.22 and it works great. Lots of problem i had with several recent games were fixed and I am very happy with it. However, problem emerges when I try regular applications. When not playing game, graphic card is underclocks to 200 MHz core clock and 100 MHz Memory clock (Full clock on 500 MHz core an 799 MHz memory) which is fine for temp sake, but when I run old 3D games or regular application, it lags due to this underclocking. It either upclock back late, or doesn't upclock at all. It's rather random and it begin to annoy me greatly. Is there any way to control the clocking level?

Thats actually a Feature called Powermizing.
Its suppose to downclock when not gaming to save battery and keep temps low.
But it is suppose to upclock when you run a game instantly. So the problem isn't "your gpu is underclocking itself" its "theres a problem with my powermizer".

EDIT: Sorry forgot to give the reason why you have powermizer. The new drivers come with it.
As to how to fix it... I'm not exactly sure. I'd say try a different driver, and I would recommend using Dox's drivers at laptopvideo2go.com forums under nVision.

is there way to control or fix that powermizer? driver reinstall don't do it. It still have that delayed upclock and random down/upclock while gaming that requires small 3d acceleration.
