    Hello everyone,

My name's BerylliumBryan, and I'm new to the forum.
I've got a problem with my graphics card, which is just seriously annoying, I'm using a Nvidia Geforce GT 330M, a good graphics card in my opinion, but with several issues. First, I don't know why, but when I play Minecraft (yeah Minecraft, can you believe it?) the graphics card crashes / F's up the textures (Note, this isn't the only game that has the texture issue), you can see what I mean if you check the attachements, now, the driver crashed like 5 minutes ago, and now my screen's full with small colorish squares all over the place, most of them are white. I didn't restart my pc yet, because I wanted to make sure that when it occurs again, I won't have to wait a week or two untill it does so.

It looks like your card is overheating and possibly is dying. Artifacts appearing either meant you overclocked way to hard or your temperatures are very, very high and it is damaging the GPU. If it is neither than something has caused your GPU to start walking towards heaven. If your laptop is under warranty get it checked out ASAP.

Well, It's not really overheating, I'm even using an external fan to cool it down, recently I have used a vacuum the get rid of the dust inside as well. I didn't overclock it, since it runs perfectly fine with most games, and I don't even know how to overclock it. So, this means that there is no way to fix this, except placing a new one?

Well is this the first time it occurred? If it happens against when you reboot or something then yeah, it is starting to die. However, if it goes away and it does come back in a short time frame, then that too is GPU necrosis but it is not as severe as the former. Either way, seeing artifacts in multiple games can be a very worrisome sign in my honest opinion as constantly using the GPU further can cause it too occur more often and even in non-game settings.

It is really had to say without going further in usage, but it is a potential sign that your GPU is dying (which happens alot on the nVidia mobile GPU side of things pre-Fermi...)

IIRC that sort of artifacting is memory related.

It happend several times, and it also occurs with most open-world games where the GPU has to render a lot of textures/models, so yeah I think I have to get it replaced. The thing is, I'd like to upgrade the graphics card, if possible. Is there a way to replace it with an other graphics card, since this is a rather expensive laptop with no onboard graphics.

No sadly you can't. Most laptops have soldered GPU's on their motherboard. The only way to upgrade is if your laptop model has an option for a GPU better than the 330M, the just acquire a new system board with that GPU on it. Otherwise, you will need to get another motherboard with the 330M on it.

IIRC, all laptops with the GT 330M are soldered on the motherboard.

    what laptop have you got.
the 330 was the first card that came with optimus technology. its been upgraded twice now to the GT555 and sadly as mentioned these cards are soldered to the motherboard and cant be upgraded unless you change the whole cpu/gpu which will be quite pricey and still might not be possible.
im no expert when it comes to these sorts of tecky questions.

Okay thanks for the help, since I can't upgrade it, hopefully it won't overheat again, since it reached 90 C a few days ago. Do you guys have any idea how to avoid this in the future? I don't want this to happen again y'know.

Overheating can be one reason the other reason can be the used driver.
Wich driver are you actually using??

The most recent one (275.33 WHQL).

What's wrong with the version, most companies tell you to download the latest driver for the best performance
