The driver for my 8600GT, in some games, sometimes resets - it crashes, then restores - if I tab out it tells me it stopped responding and then reset.

It says all should be good now.

But then when I go back to game after that, or even close the game and open a new one, I get terrible framerates - 10fps avg in hl2 not even at native resolution, and atitool tells me that the clocks are running at only the 2D Speeds, 170/100.

Are the speeds locked to the 2d after reset then? Or is something else at fault?
