I looked on Nvidia's website and can't find this, I remember seeing this a long time ago but how do you tell the diffrence in a graphics card made by Nvidia or another company made but is marketing as Nvidia?

i dont think nvidia makes any graphics "cards". They only make the GPUs and other comapanies such as asus, xfx, leadtech, etc put these gpus into their graphic cards. its analogous to intel making the cpu and some other company making motherboard. maybe nvidia make boards for their internal testing of gpu prototypes. however i am yet to see any cards marketed directly by nvidia

Sorry I should have made my question a little more clearer, I have a laptop and I am trying to find out if the GPU is made by another company or if the chip is made by Nvidia. It has discrete graphics but being a laptop I am fairly certain its still integrated GPU on the motherboard.

That'll give you some detailed info on your GPU. -
Not sure if nvidia makes the chip board or just the gpu alone.

you can buy an nvidia card. they just dont make too many. I buy eVGA personally.
-
Nvidia themselves don't manufacture the cards.

Guys, i think the op is trying to find out what video card is in his/her laptop.
If you're using Vista, right click on my computer and click on properties. A new window should pop up and on the left click on device manager. From there you can click the little plus sign next to 'display adapter' and it'll show you which video card you have. -
Actually, I think he wants to know if the actual chip soldered into his laptop is made by Nvidia itself or some other 3rd party company like desktop GPUs are made.
