Alright guys I was dead set on the Sager NP2090 but I fell in love with the 14.1 inch monitor and magnesium casing for the new dell. I saw that the 128 NVIDIA 8400M GS is in the mid range category of cards, but I dont know alot about the benchmark stuff, so I was wondering if you guys could help me out. Would this card be able to run some decent games like Counter Strike Source and Age of Empires, etc?

Counter-Strike, I would say mid-high on mid resolution. Just don't put Aniso and those settings on.

You kidding?? Have you ever tried playing that game with that card?

If no, then please don't spread the wrong information, and if yes then please talk to someone as you card is very very defective.

A go7400 will play css at high resolutions (~1280*800) with medium-high settings smoothly, so I don't see how a slightly more powerful card will not do at least that if not more.

I'm pretty sure that the 8400GS can play most of the games already out at high resolutions and at least medium settings. It's slightly faster than the go7400 but slower than the 7600 (8400gt ~= 7600). Don't worry. Despite what people say when they rant about how it single-handedly ruined the m1330, the 8400GS will play those 2 games fine.

If, however, you are planning to play any of the next-gen games coming out, Crysis, Bio-Shock, etc, get a laptop with at least a 8600GS or GT. Someone, from my "What Notebook Should I Buy?" (WNSB?) thread, mentioned that a DX10 game that their company is producing can only be run on the 8400GS at 640x480 with low settings.

CS:S is a very well written game, so it may not be representative of how well other games will run.

But just to give you some perspective, my ATI x300 ran CS:S on low/mid settings.

Good luck with your 1420 and be sure post some thoughts on it when you get it. I will be sure to when I get the 1520.

CS:S doesn't need anything above a lower midrange card to play smoothly... it's really not that graphically intensive.
