My question about being able to replace my graphics card in my Dell Latitude D620 was answered, so i was wondering if anyone has any tips on how i could configure my system to run some games? i've tried running some, but the graphics are hideous. In fact, many shapes and objects do not even show up. If anyone has any advice, that would be great.

First of all, what kind of graphics card do you have? Second, what games are these and at what settings?

I think you have not installed your videodrivers. But post some of your specs, so we can judge what it is.

The latest drivers would probrably be the best way, but besides that, you're stuck :(

my mistake, i thought i had posted what video card i have. it comes with the 256MB NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M TurboCache. There is no way to buy a new card and replace it, so i was wondering exactly what it is i could do to help with this. i want to run game like Rome: Total War, or Far Cry, things like that. I know i'll have to hold off on games like Half Life 2, but i want to also be able to run Medieval Total War 2 when that comes out. Please let me know what i could do

you could play half life 2, i think its less stressful on a system then far cry. all you have to do is turn down settings like resalution, and make sure AA and AF are off.

Medieval Total War 2's minimum tech specs are:

    English version of Microsoft® Windows® 2000/XP.
    Celeron 1.8GHz Pentium 4® (1500MHz) or equivalent AMD® processor.
    512MB RAM.
8x Speed DVD-ROM drive (1200KB/sec sustained transfer rate) and latest drivers.
11.0 Gigs of uncompressed free hard disk space.
100% DirectX® 9.0c compatible 16-bit sound card and latest drivers.
100% Windows® 2000/XP compatible mouse, keyboard and latest drivers.
    DirectX® 9.0c.
128MB Hardware Accelerated video card with Shader 1 support and the latest drivers.
    Must be 100% DirectX® 9.0c compatible.
Monitor must be able to display 1024x768 resolution or above

Not sure what the rest of your machine specs are, but I think you might be able to handle it on low settings.

but the thing is, do i need to change the settings within the game? or can i change the settings on my computer? Which would be more effective?
