Ok... I just thought about tweaking my gma950... I have the following options:
Asychronous Flip: On/ Off
Triple Buffering: Default / Off / On
Flipping Policy: Flip / Blit
Depth Buffer Bit Depth: Default / 16 Bit Depth Buffer / 32 Bit Depth Buffer
Force S3TC Texture Compression: Off / On
Force FXt1 Texture Compression: Off / On
Driver Memory Footprint: Normal / Low / High
Texture Color Depth: Desktop Color Depth / 16 Bits Per Texel / 32 Bits Per Texel
Anisotropic Filtering: Application Control / Off / On
What would you recommend I should set these at?
-
no answer? =(
-
well...
what are you tweaking for??
like games or like other applications
if it is games what kind of games? because it depends on which game you are going to tweak it fore.. -
I would tweak it for HL2, Garrys mod... etc.... basically the Steam engine... or what was it that Half life uses... Maybe for Farcry too
-
Forcing any of the texture compression settings on will slow your system down, ditto for triple buffering and AF. Unless you have lots of free RAM in your system changing driver memory footprint to high is likely to slow your system down since your HDD will be doing pagefiling to compensate for all the video card RAM usage. -
So I just turned off Forcing stuff and Mem footprint to low...
I will see if I can get better results in games today... Dont bug me Harley youll get you piece of cake -
Blit is easier on the system but the image quality will be worse, I remember my 830MG had the same setting.
Frankly your credibility is the worst I've seen for forum users. If you do conjure up screenshots I'll be likely to suspect photoshop or the assistance of a friend's more powerful system. -
What about Triple buffering on or off?
Asynchronous flip sounds all fancy and stressing on it... do I turn it off?
I will personally even take a full video from startup of my lappie to shutting down the game if you wish... But we will see... I will be playing latter this afternoon.
And again... im not the only one who says I can play Garrys mod / HL2 at decent settings on the gma950... anyways... ill prove you wrong soon. -
i think u need a better graphics card and more ram to run HL2 in windows vista
turn off all the filters and anisotropic off. thats probably the best.
u can mess around with it if u want. but good luck. hoping for some video or screenshot coz i really dont believe in the gma950 gaming capabilities -
I will make a post tomorow!!! Just got done using those settings and playing Garrys mod!!! Wooooo you wont believe it! On LOW with restart I got average 62fps (hellz yeah) and on everything high I got average 22fps low3 and highest 72 but when I did allot of stupid things it just crashed...
After putting on custom (All high besides shadow, and that setting on the top right to medium...) it ran same fps just less laggy
Ill post them... dont worry Harley... ill show you what its gotAnd no im not a photoshopper etc... why on earth would I own this crappy lappie if I was?
OH... BTW... My moms bf is accusing me of hacking his apple computer because his stocks are being cancelled and his email dissapaering... yeah I know... sounds amazing... *nudges dust off his shoulders* lol... HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU ACTUALLY FRAME MEEEEE FOR HACKING AN APPLE COMPUTER OVER A FRIGGIN DOZEN FIREWALLED NETWORK? -
If I recall correctly Blit is an older method for graphics rendering compared to the standard flip. Considering how modern dedicated graphics card have moved beyond technology that is over 5 years old it's not even a setting anymore on proper cards. -
anyways... why would it still even be an option then?
And... Is there any ATI card that is supposed to out-do the 8800m gtx?
by the way: whats is wrong with my grammar... sometimes I put abbreviations... I kno -
Your card is at least one generation behind the current crop of integrated cards so that's why the flipping option is still there.
If you're suffering from Attention Deficit Disorder please say so. You've never learned to actually use a search function on this forum, bothered to use Google or other websites to learn about graphics technology or actually read any posts made by knowledgeable users on current cards thoroughly.
You're still a lying troll full of hot air and zero credibility, I doubt that's going to change even if you get a new laptop. -
Yes I have used the search... plenty times (Yes perfect grammar, I know, I know...)
Once I get my new laptop I will definitaly understand everything about lappies, gpu's and stuff... im more of a hands on guy...
And I usually asked questions that where never asked... go look... but they may seem close to others... but they are totally different when you break down the answers you can give to them ( perfect sense? not... im light headed right now) -
Anyone who repeatedly makes unsubstantiated claims on gaming performance with inadequate hardware is full of hot air and no better than a troll since they can't provide any hard evidence.
If you don't read posts carefully you obviously won't learn anything about laptops and components, but you don't care since you're nothing other than a Crysis fanboy and don't bother actually learning about graphics cards terms.
All the threads you've made revolve around what card's the most powerful and when the latest technology is coming out, threads which are not unique and which are properly answered by other users elsewhere.
Considering it's going to well past your bedtime in a few hours I'm not surprised you can't think. It's been this way on this forum over the past few months whether you're asleep or awake. -
Anyways... Im light headed right now because I was working 10 hours yesterday and didnt get much sleep... im only 15 (soon 16) so... yeah... takes a toll no matter how tough you are... -
You don't read the sticky, you don't read the thread contained within Chaz's sticky and can still claim bare-faced you know a lot about graphics cards?!
Funny how narsnail is around the same age as you are and makes far more informative posts than you. You don't provide any proper technical information to actually help new users with zero prior experience with notebook components and have developed a habit of spamming any term you think is trendy and sounds knowledgeable.
Go away and do some background reading on your own. If you can't do that you won't learn anything here no matter how often you spam the forums. -
Fine... im not trying to spam the forums. I just give an answer I know.
