The Fear is Gone: My PC is my Next-Gen Console - TechSpot

ROFL. Article about someone discovering PC gaming is not the horror that console gamers portray it as and the minor struggles are worth it because the overall gaming experience is far superior.

But then he ends the article with, Uplay on PC does indeed seem kind of dumb. I think we all agree.

Oh and I applaud him for joining us mobile laptop gaming crowd :D

I can't even imagine gaming on something other than PC.

    He had this video embedded:

Looks like a commercial Google would make :D.

That was a funny and interesting article. I'll admit, his experience pretty much mimics my own, although I'm a little more familiar with TV's and overscan. I was into PC gaming in the 90's and into the early 2000's and then bailed. I picked up a new gaming laptop this year and haven't touched the consoles since. PC gaming really has come a long way from what I remember.

PC and console gaming is not nor has it ever been a binary choice. You can do both. I know that will come as a shock to a lot of you, but it really can be very enjoyable.

He might be a bit of a weiner when it comes to PC gaming, but at least he's got a good Twitter name:

I know. Why do people insist they always have to be mutually exclusive? I don't get it.

I wouldn't say that console and PC gaming are mutually exclusive at all. The problem with the current gen consoles is that they're more than a little long in the tooth at this point, and the disparity between what a decent PC can do and what the 360 or PS3 can do just exacerbates the issue. Bring on the next gen consoles already!

FWIW, I still own and enjoy such consoles as the Neo Geo, TG16, Saturn, Dreamcast, etc.

Because it's encouraged by the manufacturers. This bickering among PC and the consoles is in their best interest. 360 is better, PS3 is better, etc etc. These exclusive games and whatever else add to it.

Anyway, my point of the article was more of, among the first thing this blogger noticed is Uplay is awful.

I believe the issue is that once you've tasted Gold, handling Bronze can become unbearable.

I used to game on the 360, then I began playing on my current laptop. When I went back to the 360 one day, I just couldn't stand its restrictions, lower frame rates, disks, longer load times etc.

Now its only the PC for me. I do have a Psvita for some unique titles though but I will never own a big console again period.

My xbox 360 is primarily used for Kinect games. And that's about the only appeal to consoles for me are the unique titles. And then it's 99% for my kids now. Kinect is great. No controller, you're getting some physical activity, it's great. I also recently got a Wii at a great deal before Wii U came out, and it mainly gets Mario Kart play.

Heck I have netbooks for my kids and they prefer that to the consoles too, lol. So many web educational and entertainment games for kids for free.

There's really no need to choose. If you ever start feeling nostalgic for your Xbox, you can simply dial down your resolution to 1280x720, disable any kind of AF, DoF, DX11, Hi Res textures, etc. and connect a gamepad controller to your laptop and HDMI cable. :D

Stephen Totilo is the editor in chief of Kotaku, one of the most popular gaming news site so he is not just "someone".

With that said, he is still in that mind group that is still showing disdain over gaming laptop.
