I've been looking at the ASUS Xonar U1. All the reviews (use Google to find) have indicated it is very good, and one of the better laptop sound cards.

I'm getting one by end of next week, along with Sennheiser HD555 headphones (also very highly reviewed). I'm hoping the combo of sound card/headphones will give an excellent gaming and music/video entertainment experience.

I like the X-Fi series, having an XtremeGamer in my desktop PC (and I love it!), but I have read and heard from different people that the laptop cards don't quite match the quality of the desktop X-Fis.
