I'm installing GRID at the moment, wondering if it will hold off my Gran Turismo 5 hunger pangs.

Is GRID as good as it is hyped up to be? Just curious?

It has a rewind function giving it a Prince Of Persia - esque feel, otherwise it's a "next-gen" TOCA - so it's more arcadey than GT. Still though, I've seen good reviews

pretty much the same it would seem as GT5, but no customization to cars

From what I've seen, it could be a start for them. It's quite good in terms of gameplay, but their lack of content (such as cars and customising them) won't keep you happy for very long. But if you like car crashes and the like, I guess it'll do you well for long enough.

GT5 on PC is not even 100% confirmed.

Buying a PS3 would allow you to play MGS4, some form of GT5 (the prologue game), and GTAIV... 550$ for those 3 games?... its a pretty expensive proposition...

But i'm pretty sure GT5 PC is gonna happen, I read something about it.

MGS4 is like 50/50 to happen... and GTAIV is about 99%... just a matter of the waiting game.

I was honestly disappointed with GT5 Prologue, the lack of any kind of damage just ruins it for me, no consequenses for banging around. Don't get me wrong, I loved GT4, and bought GT5 Prologue the day it came out, but was just very dissapointed, just felt like so much of the same...

Grid on the other hand, I can't stop playing! I love it! It's gorgeous on my laptop, is a blast to play, and while it's not a full blown hardcore sim, is an absolute blast to drive and play. I like my sims, both flying and driving, but GRID has won me over. Was very pleasantly suprised, wasn't expecting anything near as good.

I'm very impressed with GRID even just from the demo. Driving was a little hard to start with coming from the NFS series, but I adjusted pretty quick. Graphics are suburb, and wrecking has never been so much fun. I need to get my hands on the full version! :D From what I here, GT5 Prologue is less of a full game and more of an extended demo.

Yeah I was playing the GT5 prologue a few days ago on a ps3 in the store. It was fairly disappointing. Sure the lighting is great, and the cars look nice. But it's pretty much the same as GT4. GRID is probably a better game.

after playing grid for a while, i will say that the damage system is absolutely superb. the thing feels very fast, intense, and sort of *super* realistic... sort of like stylistically beyond realism... if that makes any sense.

its definitely a great game, still adjusting to the difficulty level.

Playing GRID since 2 days on my Vostro with the 8600m GT. I get around 19-23 FPS on 1280 x 800 with all off in the graphic menu. Anyone knows any mods in the console like in Crysis to optimize FPS?
    Cheers
    Chris
