Hello, i want buy a new laptop for school and gaming, i found an Acer Aspire V3-772G with an i5 4200M and GTX850M for 650€ and would be perfect for my use, now i'm wonder if it have DDR3 or GDDR5 because here Acer | Aspire V3 it says that have DDR3 but if you look the overview of any model says that have GDDR5.
    Which is correct?

Acer would put GDDR3 on a GTX class card, its more ASUS stuff, but wait for reviews :) that machine doesnt overheat at all :D

Its probably DDR3... I seriously doubt for that price its GDDR5...

    V3-772G has GDDR5 in all GTX850M configurations (DDR3 for the GT840M version).
I've had one so I know for sure.

Decent price/performance ratio, but much plastic and only average keyboard/touchpad. The FullHD screen is good.

It is definitely GDDR5 although only in v3 models. Aspire v5 models have 850M with DDR3.

DDR3 or GDDR5 equal for 850M, either way very fast. With DDR3 maybe more efficient...

go for the full HD non glare :) I saw it and totally loved it, (the 900p is nice too if the glossy screens do not bother you)

Unfortunately, for the 1080p screen i must take the i7 version for 200€ more and as a student i don't have so much money :( anyway i think that it will be ok for me because i won't use it outside, i was only scared that between the 900p and 1080p change more than the resolution ;)

Your games will run better at 900p and on the whole, your laptop will become obsolete less fast so in your case, its probably the best choice... I seriously doubt you'll see much difference..

This was exactly what i thought, in a 17.3" i think that i will never see the difference between 900p and 1080p but my FPS will increase, and with a medium-high graphic card is a good thing :D

Ok, finally my laptop is arrived, i tweaked it with classic shell and i have downloaded all the useful programs like GPU-Z, ThrottleStop.... For now i'm very happy with this, with the burn test of throttlestop the max temp i have reached is 60C and i can't hear the fan :D, i didn't played any game yet because i'm downloading them from my steam library and will take some time... The only problem i found is happened when i updated the nvidia driver to 344.11, now i can't overclock the core not even with +135 mhz (msi af show the core at 540 mhz even if is at factory 863 mhz checked with gpu z) but i could overclock the memory up to +1000 mhz... Anyway to solve it?

You should track temp while in gaming using msi afterburner or hwmonitor..i prefer both..dont overclock your memory for 1000mhz..i have acer v3 772g with 760m and im also satisfied with my gpu temp while in gaming i gain max 78C max with flashed bios and overclock 1056/2750..There is maybe room for more overclocking but my psu doesnt allow me more(i done a lot of undervolting to manage that).Im currently on 1.025V.Try drivers 340.43 they were for me better for older games(like witcher 2,borderlands 2 etc) even though the new drivers allowed me a bit higher stable overclock(155mhz instead of 120).Try nvidia inspector for overclocking.I like it more than msi afterburner

Ok, i wil try later, anyway i didn't overclocked the memory by 1000mhz this just was the max with Msi af ;)

You need an unlocked vBIOS to OC more and I'm not sure if there is one.. Also don't OC the memory like insane as memory is usually the thing that burns out when OCing a GPU...

I known, in fact i don't want overclock too much, but i read that with gtx850/860m you can overclock the core by 135 mhz, but mine is locked...
Anyway yesterday i played about 3 hours with skyrim (ultra with 16x anisotropic and 4x aa and i get 60 fps for most time just some rare drop to 50-52) and the temp were amazing! Max 70C for cpu and 58C(!!!) for gpu!!! And the fan was absolutely quiet

very similar like my 760m before i flashed it i got 62-63C for most games with 135mhz..but after flashing the voltage is increased thats why i get now about 77-78C..I noticed that the gpu higher temps effects cpu temps to be higher..but cpu temp otherwise dont effected my gpu temp to higher..You should try crysis 3.This game had most impact on my cpu and gpu

At the end i've discovered that i can't overclock because with new drivers nvidia decided that you must run as administrator, so if someone else have the same problem... just run your overclocking tool as administrator and you will able to do the +135mhz on core without any problems ;)
