    Upgrading from QFX880M to
NVIDIA GTX470M MXM on XP shows very low frequencies even upon heavy graphics applications.Same situation on win7.
    Driver used 266.58_notebook_winxp_32bit

The Quadro FX 880m is a Type A card which has half the TDP of a 470m, the 470m has a significantly higher power draw, it might be possible that there's simply not enough power supplied by the mobo / PSU.

The other option is a incompatibility regarding the BIOS/VBIOS, I had an issue with a 470m in my M15x, it needed a slight VBIOS modification to make it run at 3d speeds.
Can you make a GPU-Z log or at least tell what clocks the card uses?

Ok, that's really only the 2d clocks. Does it ever clock up to like 73MHz on the core when you open a programm or watch a movie?

Ok, that's cool. Clevo is the only manufacturer which ever had the 470m, so I guess my VBIOS copy should work for you as well. Check out the "Gtx 470m in the M15x" link in my signature, there you can find a modified VBIOS and all necessary instructions to flash it, your problem seems very similar to the issues I experienced, so chances are that it works with the modded VBIOS, though I can't guarantee it.
There's still the possibility that it's simply a power issue. And in case it works make sure your cooling system is sufficient... 35W TPD vs 75W isn't negligible.

Yeah... guessed so, hahaha. Let me know when you flashed the VBIOS.

It seems to work good now. Thank you!
Still checking benchmarks such as 3D MARK 05.
Getting 13,000 expecting 26,000 (resolution dependent?).
    Checking also 2D performance.

Can you run at 3d Mark Vantage? You should get about P9000 GPU score with my VBIOS.

well, he also mentioned XP, and the Quattro card, so I assume this is a converted business machine that still runs XP?

Holy crap!! You upgraded your Elitebook 8540w, right??

Can you take pictures of this?? Freaking awesome, congratulations on it working!!

Since no one has mentioned, the way you have this set up could be pretty dangerous for your laptop, if you don't have at least a 120w charger. And, the vRAM is probably really hot, along with the power components.

You should definitely be checking the temps with GPUz or such.

FYI, there are gtx 470m not manufactured by Clevo, I have one.
