this seems to be gaining momentum from reputable sites...the 7970m eats this card alive

Just got to wait and see, speculation is pointless.
I think everyone will be surprised if the 680m does not match or beat the 7970m, Nvidia normally does not accept second place. -

Let me rephrase:
IF this is the 680m that will be released, the 7970m will eat it alive -

you seem to think that i'm an ati fanboy...I'm not. I am a video card enthusiast that would be disappointed if this is what nvidia gives us -
Im not trying to wum, but we have seen already that generally desktop wise the new gpus are similar performance per watt so I expect nvidia and amd to be very close.

All the reputable sites that people are mentioning don`t know anything more than what we do. The score they are posting is the 680M overclocked. Later rumors said that Nvidia ditched this card when they saw how powerful the 7970M was.
From the SOURCE of this content which I was the first one to write about in the beginning of April. Here is the source

Yeah it doesn`t make any sense. As you can see from the source, the first 680M was a GK106, we now know that 680M is a GK104 so they must have changed it. We even have proof confirming a GK104.
Question is wether they just cut the 680 in half which I along with many think would be stupid because they already have a massive shortage with GTX 680s. Why on earth would they use those chips on notebooks? And it would, like Slickdude says, most likely fall behind 7970M
I don`t know, the whole thing is confusing
