I guess it's going to crash and have several BSODs.
Does a BSOD look all hip and trendy on a MBP?

It's actually a GSOD in OS X
And yes, it does.

i seriously doubt any prizes will be shipped out fwiw.
also, i second the motion that you can't take the limit of the tangent of 90 degrees. it is not like dividing by zero, except for the fact that you cannot divide by zero also. you can't take the limit because the function is divergent at 90 degrees. if you specify a direction (limit from the left) you can take it. -
Maybe they've already crashed away to a GSOD
I downloaded and ran the thing somewhere in between my first post and the one with my score LOL -
ohh yeah...if someone guesses the EXACT number ill ship out a prize
There is a slight delay since I am now updating windows Vista (fresh install) with 200 GB of updates LOL...standby masterchiefs.
-
Good god you have more in updates than the entire size of my hard drive :\ Gotta love Vista..
You know multiple people reccomended the 174.16 over the ones you chose.. you planning on running with both? -
wasnt planning on it...i guess I could do it. I just grabbed the latest ones thinking they would be the best.
-
the suspense...
-
Hey now....
Post the results if you did the benchmark.
Don't go and try to get a better score with the other drivers....
-
Im not! Just finishing up installing all the friggin Vista updates then ill run it within the next 30 mins. I figure I need to get vista all up to date to give myself the best chance at a good score lol.

sonda5,
not trying to hijak thread but curious what your clocks are set at on 570m to achieve your 5100+ score. I have the same setup as you except 3gb ram and 160gb 7200rpm. currently at around 4950 running at 570/860. After 3dmarks runs gpu temp is around 72 DEG not sure about going much more =(
Thanks =) -
After I did my "OC" score I tuned down some. I don't remember what my settings were.
I have some RAM and a faster hdd on order. Once I get em installed I do another benchmark.
Lets get back on the topic of this thread. There is a T61p benchmark thread going on in the Lenovo forum to discuss the performance of the T61p. -
RESULTS ARE IN!
I ran it once with the specs I listed on page 1 and got 4329 in 3dmark 06.
Not bad I guess...I will try it again with that extra 2 gigs of ram I am getting soon. -
I'm guessing 4329........ WOOOAH I DID IT! *balloons fall from ceiling*

I am sure to win

Dam that is low. I cannot see how you with the new macbook and all them updated stuff, video card, cpu,...cannot reach 4500 easy. I get 4k with old drivers and old stuff over here, well I believe this reassure our feel goodness.
-
Wow, that is low, with that Penryn I thought for sure 5000 range.
-
I guess the processor doesnt have as much to do with it...also remember I have the latest driver which people have been saying isnt the best one. I suppose I could try an older driver and see if I can get a few hundred more on the score. Maybe with some tweaks i could get close to 5k or at least mid/upper 4k range.

Sounds about right. The extra RAM might help a bit, but I think it really just comes down to the GPU and how much VRAM it has. If it had 512 instead of 256 I'm sure it would help out. GF8600 is a good mobile GPU but it's not a "beast" really. You can always try good 'ol overclocking. -
My 8600 has 512mb vram. Unfortunately it cant use it so its only really good for larger textures etc (a slight help but not in the performance department)
Im not going to OC it ill just tweak windows and the drivers and keep trying to bump it up a bit. I hope Vista SP1 makes a difference...they say it will but who knows
Overall i am very pleased with this card though...i had an X 1600 so I basically doubled my performance which is sweet. No its not a beast like the 8800 but I need to retain *some* mobility in my laptop LOL. I am happy it can play the latest games on at least medium/high so it will work great!
If I want to crank the settings up and have awesome framerate ill just play on my desktop with my 8800gtx
-
Charivari, if you ran the test at standard resolution, those are some pretty impressive scores!
With my Conroe based MBP I get around 3800 at 1440x900 (which is roughly/less than 1280x1024).
Sounds good to me! -
Yeah id of guessed around 4k
-
That's a very respectable score considering you're running Vista 64 bit via bootcamp to boot.
-
He has 512mb VRAM... and the difference between the 512mb and 256mb 8600 is marginal at best.
@Morphy: Also boot camp doesn't effect performance. But being in 32-bit Vista would probably increase the score, I'd think. -
I thought the 5000 range just because my score jumped from 7000 to 8578 just by installing a T9300 from the stock 1.66mhz CPU, so almost 1600pt improvement, I'am using the 169.09. Then 9810 with overclocked GPU.

it does exist. as x aproaches 90. tanx will approach infinity. there are asemptotes at those points meaning that there is no actual value. however as you approach 90 (from zero anyway) you value for tan x will increase. you try it with 89.99999999999 and see what you get.
-
yes jeff is correct
-
I don't know what your high school taught you, but a limit exists for f(x) as x->a if and only if the function approaches "a" at all sides (this becomes even more complicated after you move past R^2 into R^n). There is no limit at tan(x) x->90 since the left hand side approaches infinity, while the right hand side approaches negative infinity.
A simpler example is the function f(x) = 1/x, as x->0. The left hand side limit exists, the right hand side limit exists, but the LHS != RHS, and thus the limit does not exist.

I was close with my guess of 4500.
That is a great score too.
Congrats!
Guess what my 3dmark 06 score will be and you might win!
