I looked through about 15 pages and didn't see anything about my problem.
I bought Guild Wars 2 and whenever I try to install it it says "Download Failed! Please check your internet connection and try again." I can't seem to find a way to get the game to install, I have tried to install from the disk and I also tried to download it using the Guild Wars 2 download client. Has anyone else had this problem? This is getting very frustrating.

Baka suggests allowing whatever download client it's using through firewall if that's not done yet ._.

I'm assuming you've already tried to disable all your security software, including the built in Windows firewall, and chosen to run Gw2.exe as an administrator? Where did you store the executable? Could you try using your phone as a mobile hotspot to rule out anything on that end?

Oh, right. I downloaded the client while it didn't have a setup. I have seen people having issues with Gw2Setup.exe placing Gw2.exe in the temp folder. Could you check if that happens with you as well?

Hit the Windows Key + R and type in %temp% and hit enter. Look/search for Gw2.exe inside this folder. If it's there, try moving it to C:\Program Files\ArenaNet\Guild Wars 2 or any other destination with enough space and run it. If you have a modern smartphone you should be able to use mobile tethering so that you could rule out your connection.

The game itself doesn't need to be installed in a specific location as Convel mentioned, make sure all three important files are in the same folder at the location fo your choosing. The files are Gw2.exe, Gw2.dat and Gw2.tmp. Mine for example are all in C:\GW2. Other than that if all files are in the same place, try renaming Gw2.tmp to Gw2.exe, it seems to have fixed things for certain members on GW2Guru. I cna always make a zip of my .exe and .tmp files, obviously, i can't put the .dat file in there, but just getting the .exe could fix it, but i've never been a fan of downloading .exe no matter how legit and i think most NBR members will agree with me on that.

This is so frustrating, I found the exe, tmp, and data files and put them in a folder where you told me to but that did not work. the DAT File and TMP File are both 0kb, is that right? I tried renaming the tmp file to gw2.exe but I couldn't because I already had the exe named that so I moved it and tried it but it didn't work.

Only Gw2.exe was 'installed'. The other two files are blank since the launcher failed to download anything. The likely culprit is either insufficient permissions or a too strict network. If you don't know how to share your phone's internet connection you could try moving Gw2.exe to another computer that's hooked up to your network and see if it fails there too or connect your computer to another network.

Try flushing your dns resolver cache.
Open command prompt
Type ipconfig /flushdns
Turn off windows firewall
then navigate to your gw2.exe file through command prompt
Type gw2.exe -repair
Then try running it. -

Port forward the following ports for GW2.
TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600
Make sure your clock is set to the right time (I've scratched my head over this a few times before.)
Disable All antivirus software whilst running GW2.
Try running Gw2.exe from command line again with GW2.exe /clientport 80
You can also try running gw2.exe from command line with gw2 -authsrv 206.127.159.107
Hope one of these work for you -
Hi
Maybe something is in the 'hosts' file? Sound utterly stubbornly just like i use 'hosts' to block some of the websites -

Nope nothing works, I was thinking maybe I should Restore my laptop like the way it was when I first got it, Do you think that might work? Since nothing has been working, this may be the only option.
