Guild Wars Expansions Still Good?

alrite soo ive had the first guild wars 1 prophecies for about 2 years now and i just got back into it. suprisingly theirs still a strong community and the PVP is still pretty big. now, because i just own the first guild wars i feel like im missing out on alot of skills and my PVPing is lagging behind alot. soo i was wondering is it still worth it to get the expansions, would the expansions realli give alot of features like the first one, is the community strong in the expansions? or should i just wait for the guild wars 2 (i dont even now if its coming out)

or

is guild wars a game that would die in the next couple of months?

Guild Wars won't be as popular when Guild Wars 2 comes out, whether you want to wait for that is up to you. The expansions offer alot more gaming, weapons, armour, quests etc, so I would think they are worth getting!

 

Guild Wars is still running strong, but the community is spread out over 4 chapters/continents, therefore the amount of people in each town effectively decreases(since Guild Wars doesn't have the millions and millions of players other MMOs do), making it "seem" like it's dying, but actually, the playerbase remains more or less stable. I'd say if you can find yourself a good guild, then you should have the most enjoyable time

Guild Wars 2 isn't for another while so the original(s) should still be "valid" for another while.

For the PvP side of things, I'd say definitely get the expansions because they contain a lot of good skills which have become part of the PvP strategy and it'll help you familiarize yourself with the new terms concerning skills and such.

For PvE, like I said, you'd best find yourself a good guild if you insist on playing with other people, otherwise the game introduced heroes(which are like customizable henchmen) if you'd rather play solo or with 1-2 people.

 

I was on the same boat as you 2 months ago. I had Guild War Prophecy from 2 years ago and it's been awhile since I picked up Guild War.

Now Trilogy pack (Prophecy, Faction, Nightfall) is $49.99 in best buy and snap a Eye of The North $9.99 together I got a great fun package.

 

I have all expansions and boy was it soooo much fun!!!!!


However, im playing some hardcore Counter Strike Source right now while i wait for Guild Wars 2 (and Starcraft 2 before then).



but yeah Guild Wars 2 will be a He-UGGGGEEE hit! I wouldnt miss it for the world!

 

thnx for all the replies, now im really considering buying the expansions, but i really dont want to buy the triology because i already have prophecies. would it be worth it to buy the 2 expansions seperately or just buy the triology? which would be cheaper?
