Hi guys, im a Guild Wars retired veteran and i decided to re-install the old game to check how many birthday presents i have (lol).

Anyways, i downloaded the client without the CD's, put in my account/pass.

Everything was fine but its just that the map download times take SOOOOOOOOO LONG

Is there like a map pack for Guild Wars i could get or does installing from the CD include those maps so that i dont have to load them for 30 minutes everytime i change from place to place?

the first time you load the map takes really long, but every time after that it should be much shorter!

I've also noticed that it seems to depend on network settings or something of the sort. At home, even though my internet is slower than at work, after the initial load of the map loading times for that map are very quick. At work, on a very fast connection, each map seems to load from scratch each time and each map takes about 15 minutes to load (and then has to do that over and over).

Oh yeah i know that except i would like to know if i could download ALL the maps ONCE and install all of them at once instead of downloading them all one by one (by entering the different zones)

Yes there's a way to download and decompress all the maps at once.

Just right click on the Guild Wars icon and go to Properties. Then in the destination (ex: "C :program Files/Guildwars"), just add -image after the quotations and start GW. This should make it pause at the loading bar and it'll download and decompress all of the maps. This can take a few hours depending on your internet connection and blah blah, but it speeds up the loading process significantly once you play again.

Just remember to remove the -image after you're done because this command makes the game DL maps only, it won't start :D
