Has anyone tried either of these games on their laptop or PC? I just purchased a new refurbished Inspiron 1720 Notebook:
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2GHz/800Mhz FSB/4MB cache)
    90W AC Adapter
8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate Operating System Label
    Remote Control for Media Center
    Dell 1505 Wireless-N
Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio Software Edition
    9 Cell Battery, Primary
    4 GB DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz (2 DIMMs)
    Bluetooth Wireless Card 355
250 GB EIDE Hard Drive (5400RPM)
Integrated 2.0 Mega Pixel Web Camera
17 inch WXGA+ TrueLife Glossy Notebook Screen
    256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

Will I have any issues running either of these games?

You just hold it the opposite way. And there is a game setting for left handed people. Although musical instruments, at least stringed afaik only come in one style. I've never actually seen anyone play a guitar left handed, and I grew up playing the violin and I never saw a left handed violin.

you should be fine for guitar hero, although it is a direct port and it requires a dual core processor to play fluently. Should be fine with your specs though

The real guitar there are actual left handed guitars. Dont say you just flip it cuz you dont. The strings are flipped and the ports and nobs and wammy bar are flipped. Guitar hero you cant do this. Obviously the strings stay the same, but you have the wammy bar on top and you cant hit the back button with your palm for star power.

Every guitar manufacture designs left handed guitars, you just don't see them in abundance like you do right handed.

I have Guitar Hero 3 on Pc...It's actually somewhat graphically intensive. The game recommends a 8800 desktop graphics board! I have the same processor as you but I have the 8600 GS. You graphics card is more powerful and I would think your system should run the game fine. The game runs “okay” but not perfect (some slowdown at times) but does not really effect gameplay too much. I wanted to play madden 08 on pc but I heard it sucks so I never tried it.

madden 08 does kinda suck cuz it looks nothing like the PS3 or 360 version, its like your playing it on the PS2.

Madden 08 runs perfectly smooth at 1680x1050 with all settings at their highest on my 8600, it's really not a graphically intensive game.

That's because it's using last generation graphics (Xbox, PS2) instead of current gen (Xbox 360, PS3). The game is also impossible to play with a keyboard and mouse (way too steep learning curve), though controller support (Xbox 360 controller) is good, there are some glitches.

You can run Guitar Hero 3, but beware, if you run with everything on high, the video will not be synchronized with the sound (sound comes first, video second). There is a sync option in the game, but it doesn't do anything unless sound comes after video. Even if you overclock, the graphics is still a bit slow.

I just use a Logitech controller that is identical to a PS2 one and it only costs $20. It also works well with any emulators or other sports games as well. I know it's not using next-gen graphics! Heck, the next-gen versions aren't even similar to the current-gen ones in terms of anything, not just graphics.

Looking at the graphics card that you have and knowing that the 8600m GS runs it with some slowdown, I say that it won't.

The integrated card is too weak.

On both my desktop with an 8800GTS, and my 8700m GT laptop, neither run GH3 good at all.. Framerates on both are a constant 60FPS (because of Vsync) but the game hiccups CONTSTANTLY, it will just SKIP a whole bunch of the song, the track will speed up for about 5 entire seconds then go back to normal, and it does this so often that it's unplayable..

GH3 on PC is the WORST port I've ever seen of a game simply because of it's severe issues.. And it sucks that my Xbox360 rockband guitar will work on my PC just fine, but GH3 for PC INTENTIONALLY throws off the buttons and doesn't allow you to configure them..

The game runs badly even after you have the 1.1 patch? I still didn't find it in my country, but I'm still looking for and hoping EA release it here!

hmm.. I'll have to give the patch a try.. I didn't realize there was one, but I'm downloading it now... Hopefully it fixes the 5-15 second pauses that the game does..

Nothing actually stops, but the bar that constantly flows down will pause while everything else is still moving.. I'm hoping this fixes that, but it is Aspyr we're talking about...

Hmm I never get a pause when im playing it on the PC, the only lag I get is when the game decides to drop from 45-50FPS to 30-35FPS. But on my desktop I have no problems with skipping, try downloading the patch.

An 8600GT is having problems with it? What settings are you guys trying to run it at. On 1024x768 everything low I can get 40FPS average on an x1400, you should have no problems getting constant 60 with a 8600GT.

Although I don't like playing it on my laptop cause my desktop runs it much smoother.
