Ok Half life 2 is not working, every time i start it up it goes to that blurred first loading screen and it says 64-bit mode active in the top left corner and it just keeps loading and nothing happens. Anyone know the problem?

Right click on Half-Life 2 in Steam, go to Properties, Set Launch Options, and put -32bit there.

64-bit Half-Life 2 has always been a little bit buggy, running it in 32-bit mode should fix everything, and there wont be any loss in performance.

I found that running the hl2.exe in 'XP Service Pack 2' Compatibility Mode fixes it usually.

However, StormEffect is right, the 64-bit mode can be a bit buggy.

I tried the launch options thing but a message comes up that says this option is for advanced users, there is a blank box below the message which I can write in and below is a cancel and an ok button, It's a very strange message box.
