Hey guys,
I just bought the box version of Bioshock last weekend to eat up some free time, but apparently the drivers for the mobility HD 2600 suck. All interacting characters, including your own hand, are black (image below) and have no textures. I contacted 2k tech support, which tried to do everything below, but nothing worked:
DX 9 mode
1.1 worldwide patch
increase virtual memory
XP compatibility mode
Update C++
The only thing they said was to use drivers from Omegadrivers.net, but they don't support vista yet. I have updated catalyst from hp, but the latest drivers are from February. Other than the textures, the game runs smooth. Other games, HL2, Crysis, etc. run fine. There was a hotfix update for several other ATi desktop cards, http://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=29041, but I'm stuck with what HP ships me. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, tried all graphics settings and everything in the 2K forums about this either go to this patch for the desktop or are unanswered.
If you guys have any ideas, that would be fabulous. I'm going out of town to a wedding this weekend, so I won't be able to try anything until Sunday. But here are my specs:
HP 8510p
Vista Ultimate x86
T7300
3 gigs Ram
ATI mobility HD 2600
Catalyst Driver Packaging Version: 8.391.72...
Driver Version: 7.14.0010.0510
Thanks
