Which would be better for gaming? The HP 8510p or the HP dv9500t?

The HD 2600 would be better.

Is it the XT or Pro variant?

Either one, it's still better. It's supposed to be equivalent to the 8600m GT.

Well considering the HD2600 > 8600GS at the same clocks and the 8510p is GDDR3 and the 9500t is GDDR2 this is a no brainer.

The posts above seem to contain all the relevant info, GDDR3 vs GDDr2, the HD2600 wins out.

alright now, i'm getting my ak out and starting to count to 3. who voted for gs? lol it is not a bad card by any means, it's just that 2600 has more potential to it. i bet ati is gonna come out with some kick ass drivers(or maybe not lol), plus some users reported the 2600 to be underclocked. with some overclocking and new drivers, ati's card might see some improvements.

There are now 3 people who voted for the 8600GS - not me!!

Anyway, definetly the 2600 since it has the GDDR3 memory.
