The HD2600 desktop are very power efficiant so it bodes well for the mobile side, looks like a 65nm HD2900 is needed before we see it in a laptop.

    (I meant HD2900 in title ^^)

OH WOW. HD2900XT is only $400, and it rivals the Geforce 8800GTX ...

Let the price wars begin. I can't wait to see how low they go.

About time. I wonder how long it will be before nVidia release their next series and leap ahead of ATI again.

I smell the Nvidia 8900 series coming soon.

There will be the 8900GTX ... 128 unified shader units, same specs mostly as the current 8800GTX, except it will be 768 MB of 384-bit GDDR 4 clocked at 2,200 Mhz. The 8900GTS will have the SAME number of unified shader units, apparently, but it will only be 320-bit memory (640 MB of GDDR 4). Seems like the 8900GTS would be the better buy, since it could be overclocked rather easily.

    And then there's the monster 8950GX2 ... 1 GB of GDDR4.

Benchmarks have shown that it is similar to the 8800GTS.. but runs hotter, creates more noise, and consumes more power, but ATI says its fixable with better drivers. But the 8800GTX is the most powerful card on the market right now and probably will be for a while
