    What could a mobility HD 3650 run and how does it stack up to 9600M series? at what settings n etc I'm considering a laptop with one of these GPUs, and just interested in what kind of performance it will get =) thanks.

    Check this thread. There's a ranking of most GPUs in notebooks.

    In a nutshell, the HD3650 GDDR3 should be slightly weaker than a 9600M GT DDR2. The HD4650 is the direct competitor to the 9600M GT.

    What would it run though i.e oblivion or source engine games etc? (at decent settings I mean)

    well i just got rid of my asus that had the HD3650 DDR2 and it played the following games at med-medhigh settings with 25+ fps.
    *SoaSE
    *CoH+ oposing fronts
    *CoDWaW
    *oblivion goty
    *WiC
    *fallout3
    *masseffect
    *heroes of might and magic V
    *rome tw
    these are the games i can remember playing with this GPU so you should be good to play most new games at a min of medium settings and get playable FPS
