I was under the impression that the HD 4000 has no dedicated memory, only dynamic. However, GPU-Z (version 0.6.6 to be specific) shows that it's using around 8-11MB of dedicated memory (under the Sensors tab) as I'm typing this. I'm pretty sure that the HD 4000 doesn't have dedicated memory but just want to be sure.

Perhaps GPU-Z is showing false info?

Will appreciate any insight into this. Thx :D

It pulls from system memory. GPU-Z is just showing how much it is using.

I guess I left out some details. Sorry. GPU-Z is showing both dedicated memory as well as dynamic memory, so there's 2 readings there. For example, I'll launch a game and minimize GPU-Z. When I quit the game and pull up GPU-Z, it'll show that the max dedicated memory was 11MB and the max for the dynamic around 200MB (always differ).

Can anyone offer any insight into this? Thx.

Not sure what that means. I just double checked and my M17x-R4 is showing 0MB for "Dedicated" memory on the HD 4000, and 287MB for dynamic.

It definitely doesn't have it's own RAM though, I mean save for probably a little cache on it.

    I'm curious what that means.

Oh, and I'm running 0.7.2, in case the version of GPU-Z matters.

Oh, what I meant was GPU-Z is showing 8MB for dedicated memory and 2xxMB for dedicated memory. Which I'm assuming is wrong since the HD 4000, like you said, doesn't have its own RAM.

I'll try updating GPU-Z to a newer version to see if it'll report the correct value (which should be 0MB for dedicated memory). Will keep you guys posted!

The latest version of gpu-z is 7.3. Try that one.

It is normal to want to verify information. GPU-Z exists because people want to know that information. It is like verifying your receipt to make sure you weren't over charged. Most of the time it doesn't matter, but once in a grand while...

I'm obsessed with HWMonitor, GPU-Z, and CPU-Z, I have to admit :-D It's so fun to see all those details, and current clock speeds, etc. :-D

Cause if life is an up hill battle
We all tryna climb with the same ol' ladder
In the same boat, with the same ol' paddle
Why so shallow? I'm just asking

Same here. I'm using all these software to monitor stuff and just wanna make sure they're accurate. Anyways, I'm using 0.7.3 now but it's still showing that I'm using 8MB of dedicated memory and 67MB of dynamic memory as I'm typing this. Strange...
