    Hey there :)
I got an Acer Travelmate 5720g yesterday with the hd2400xt (MXMII) , and according to notebookcheck the core speed should be 600mhz but it comes out as only 300mhz according to catalyst and AtiTools (havent been overclocking , just wanted to check catalyst was reporting correctly).

I have everything on performance settings eg. the processor and GPU performance setting. I have also used modded mobility drivers from driver heaven to see if it would help.

    What could be the problem?

It's lowered to preserve battery life.

Try run a game then minimize to go back to the desktop to check the clock speeds on the catalyst control center, you should see them go higher.

Did you check the Powerplay settings in the catalyst control center?

Have you downloaded the latest video card drivers from www.ati.com?

Have you downloaded the latest updates for your computer on www.acer.com?

right did a 3d mark test and it came out as 1239, which is very very poor, i have now disabled powerplay so it cant reduce current etc. Is the GPU defective?

what happend when you disabled powerplay, does it still show the underclocked settings?

i also had a similar problem wherein even if I was in High Pefromance Mode, running off plugged in power and i even had the ATI powerplay settings set to Maximum Performance, I was still showing underclocked numbers. I even played a game in window mode but the settings still were not right.

in summary, all i did was diasable powerplay and now my video card settings are where they should be. i simply enable it again if i'm not gaming or on battery.
