    Hello guys and gals ;)!

    Ive decided to create a small list of different faults people are having with their HD2600 DDR3 especially installed in the HP8510p. Since the release of new BIOS the lowered clock speeds have been set to default 500/600Mhz and some people got rid of their problems.

    All I would like to ask for is couple of info from Everest:
    [Ultimate Edition if possible], go to Display and GPU.

    BIOS version,
    BIOS date,
    PCI Device,
    on top of that few information - have You updated to new BIOS?, has it fixed Your problems, on what system [Vista - XP] have You had them?, what type of problems it was - a short description will be enough.

    So if You can please post below, using this template:

    ==================================
    BIOS version - all digits please
    BIOS date - date, time
    PCI Device - all digits and letters please
    BIOS updated - Y/N
    Operating System - Vista - XP
    Problems - short description
    BIOS fixed the problem - Y/N
    ==================================

    THANK YOU!!!

    BIOS updated - YES
    Operating System - Vista and XP :)
    Problems - SolidWorks crashing, PES2008 crashing, all either with black screen or with VPU Recovery, restart needed, no response from the system, randomly crashes with green-black stripes on the screen [that has been fixed, havent seen them so far]
    BIOS fixed the problem - NO

    Well, i never had any serious problems with my hd 2600. right now the fan slows down after gaming or using a 3d pro app. Ocing is working fine also.

    so the new bios unleashes the hd2600 :D ?? setting the clocks back to normal would yield more power but the battery surely would not appreciate the extra juice needed, am i right? maybe the problems arise due to not sufficient cooling?

    Cooling seems to be ok, playing HL2 for roughly 6 hours gave me 75C overall temp, that dropped rapidly just after shutting it down to 62C and then cooled down even more. I have to test the o/c now, yet still dont have time for that...

    @schoko yes i know there was an increase (reported around 3400-3800 in 3dmark06) but what worried me was that the cooler always wnet on and not slowed after the game ended, now it is slowing down but that would mean slower cooling and therefore it might mean problems with some really graphic sensitive games, not to mention pes. and i wonder if o/cing the card after "normalisation" through bios would still give far better results with no problems? or maybe those reported problems are just developper specific and they need to patch the title here and there to make it work and it's not bios dependent...

    BIOS date - 12/18/07,18:38:54
    PCI Device - 1002-9581
    BIOS updated - Yes
    Operating System - Vista Business

    Problems - GPU was underclocked, under performing, not able to OC, fan would not clock down after reaching 70c temp threshold, fan would run loud even if doing normal office stuff.

    BIOS fixed the problem - GPU clocks now correct, now able to OC, now performing much better, fans run quieter when not doing anything graphics intensive, fan now clocks down after high GPU usage.
    ==================================

    mkarwin: I'd say if anything, the fan slowing down after gaming would mean it's cooling perfectly, because the GPU's temp drops are reported correctly and so the fan slows down in response. If we OC the GPU will stay hotter longer, and thus the fan will stay on longer before slowing down. This is what's happened to me so far anyway :\

    Problems - Screen would freeze then go blank, aka VPU error
    BIOS fixed the problem - No. The HP display driver update (october) fixed the problem.

    I really haven't had any problems whatsoever outside of the fan having asinine limits. HP the fan should NOT turn on at merely 2% CPU usage. The BIOS didn't fix any GPU related issues, they were already fixed. It did, however, allow me to run 3Dmark06. PCmark05 still doesn't run :mad:
