I have 2.8Ghz with 512 RAM and an ATI 9600 Mobility Radeon. The game keeps crashing on my system. It freezes and I have to turn my laptop off manually. I can't update my video card drivers because ATI doesn't put out drivers for its mobility cards and HP (my laptop company) doesn't have any new drivers that I can download. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

For some ATI mobility drivers, check out Omegacorner.com. I use Omegas for my Mobility 9600, and they work great. I think you can use Catalyst drivers too, but I'm not sure where to get them.

Out of curiosity, what game is crashing your system?

It sounds like you may also be having a CPU overheating issue. Make sure you're properly ventilated.

Half Life 2 is crashing. All my vents have plenty of room. Any other advice?

Sounds like a heat issue to me. I have had the same problem. It is most likely your CPU not your GPU. But most of the time when there is a heating issue the computer will restart itself. Look into installing a fan on the bottom of the laptop for ventalation. You could aslo lower the settings on HL2. It is a demanding game after all.
    Good luck

I agree with zinger2127. Heat problems. Go out and get a Laptop Cooling Pad, most sell for under $50 bucks. Remember to go for aluminum and not the cheap plastic stuff [ ;)]
