I've just installed Windows Vista on my new tecra Toshiba A7. I tried running it fresh after the installation but it wouldn't work, I downloaded ATI's latest drivers for Windows Vista and tried again but nothing. I get the splash screen and then it shuts down, doesn't even get to the intro movie. After googling, I read a few people managed BF2 with Windows Vista with absolutely no problems. Any advice? I can't find out where I went wrong.

I think you'll need more than 1GB of RAM. Vista itself takes a huge chunk out of the 1GB for its own purposes, thereby leaving very few MBs for applications. Try borrowing/buying 1 more gig. If your friend has 2 1gigs, just test it out so that you don't waste your money.

    Hey Bobdare!

Like zoxan said, you need higher then 2 GB to play games on Vista. I once read an artical about gaming on Vista, and without any doubt you need 2 GB of RAM. You got a superb notebook, but 1 GB is just too less to game on Vista.

    Windows Vista....

Worst ever operating system or what? I'm sorry, it's the OS, it does NOTHING other than let you run other things, and yet it requires 1 GB of RAM, what on earth was Micro$oft thinking, oh wait, I know, that they can make more money...

    *sigh*

Yeah Vista isnt coming out for what another year? mabey less. So by then it will definitly be optimized alot more than it is now. Although as far as OS's go it will still be a RAM hog. Im planning ahead now and droping the extra cash to get 2GB @ 667MHZ Ram, just in case I ever decide to upgrade, which I likley will.

Thanks a lot zoxan and everyone else. Hitman as always, efficient and very helpful. Gracias.

I went back to windows xp. Vista is eye candy and very user friendly. It's a lot better than xp, a big resemblence to mac os but in a windows kind of way. I went back because a lot of software is still not ready for it, and will definately upgrade in January when it get's launched officially. By then I'm guessing I can get 4gb of 667 rams for the price of 2gb today.

^^^ What's your laptop screen's refresh rate at? Make sure it's set to 60 Hz. BF2 is picky and sometimes it won't load if your refresh rate is above or below 60 (via LCD).

Or, if that doesn't work. Try deleting the game profiles folder (under My Documents for XP or 'Your User Name' folder--> Documents in Vista).
