hello, after searching the forum and finding many posts which only strafed my problem, i come to you with a new thread. im planning to buy a laptop. as i do not often play, but i do play, im not in need of a high end graphics chip. the games i want to play would be these: Pro Evolution Soccer 6, Operation Flashpoint, and Silent Hunter 3. Can anyone confirm the possibility to play that games in decent FPS (>35) on this lenovo laptop: Lenovo R60 9456-HTG
im not sure if Silent Hunter 3 will even run on a intel gma 950 chip... :( but my budget isnt big enough to go with a better laptop!
if i had the money, i would buy this one:
    Lenovo R60 9461-DXG
Silent Hunter 3 should run on a ATI Mobility Radeon X1400, right?
thanks for your help and sorry for my bad english

Thankfully for you, PES 6 still uses the PES 5 engine (Konami concentrating on the 360 and PS3 ), so your laptop will run at medium settings with a GMA950. That is presuming the posters weren't exaggerating in a PES forum I frequent :p No idea about the others. But then to be on the safe side, probably low-medium for PES 6. It is an integrated card after all and it is generally rubbish. Sorry!

Have a read of this thread as well

pro evo 6 still uses directx8 so an ati 1400 will run it fine at max settings :) have never played silent hunter though...

Operation: Flashpoint runs absolutely perfectly on my X1400 with about 2Km visibility. I even run the updated graphics mods.

Silent Hunter III runs at 1024x768 with the high detail turned on perfectly also. Well, you will see some slowdown looking at fires up close, but it in no way degrades from the experience.

You have good taste in games, Sir! Two of my favourites!

In your opinion... I'm a LOMAC fan myself. ;)

    Good luck with your purchase.

I do run them under Ubuntu. OFP goes perfect, but due to the terrible state of ATi drivers, SHIII has a noticeable frame rate drop compared to Vista/XP.

Lenovos are renowned for being relatively Linux friendly. If you're into gaming though, I'd suggest a dual boot scenario first up. As Linux may not satisfy you in this regard.

In that case check out the PES 6 download area on this forum http://forum.evo-web.co.uk/ :) Need to register to view pages. PES 6 vastly better than PS2 and 360 version after mods its not funny. And buy a pad. Nigh on impossible to play with the keyboard :p

i wouldn't get an ati card for pes 6, i have a dell 6400 with ati x1400 but the game experiences slowdown, sometimes its fine other times it really slugs. doesn't matter which settings low medium or high.
the no cd patch doesn't fix the problem either(it does for some cards)

Isn't that rather sweeping? I have an X1600 and play PES 6 max settings, at native res with no problems whatsoever. I also have HD kits, updated turf, chants and stadiums loaded and its all good

how cool: with my lenovo r60 x1400 i can play PES6 with EVO-Patch 1.3 at 1024x768 at about 40-50 fps !! never expected it to run so good... so echouser, maybe youve got a slower cpu / less ram? my config is 1.8ghz / 1gb...

silent hunter 3 runs also fine at about 35fps with medium settings and 1024x768, but has really long loading time before eacht mission starts...
