I bought a Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T61p with an Nvidia Quadro 570M and I've been having problems with it. I downloaded Everest to check my system and it doesn't list anything under the GPU or PCI/AGP video tabs where I would expect to find it. The only thing I can find is under the "Windows Video" where it does list

    Video Adapter Properties
    Adapter String VGA
    BIOS String Chip Rev
    Chip Type NVIDIA
    DAC Type 8 bit
Device Description Standard VGA Graphics Adapter
    Installed Drivers vga (6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205)), framebuf (6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205)), vga256 (6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205)), vga64k (6.0.6000.16386 (vista_rtm.061101-2205))
    Memory Size 14 MB

This can't be right because the 570 comes with 256 mb of ram so I tired to download the driver from Nvidia's website and when a ran it it said that my system did not contain a compatible card and exited out

I have no idea what direction to go in now. Anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

Download GPU-z if you want to ID your card info. Otherwise follow the updating video drivers guid in the stickies and download drivers from laptopvideo2go.com. If you're uncomfortable with that, update the drivers through lenovo or lenovo update.

How about instead of downloading aftermarket applications and stressing you first start with Windows to see what it sees? Right click on an empty part of desktop. Click properties (bottom of drop down) Display Properties will open, click settings tab (furthest right) toward bottom click advanced in new screen click 2nd tab from the left adapter. What does it say?

Also in Device Manager expand display adapters, what does that say?

I have already done that, thas why I am here, it use to say "Standard VGA Adaptor" but after trying to troubleshoot this thing it has updated to the correct "Nvidia Quadro FX 570M" so I am getting closer.

I don't know what happened but when GPU-z scanned my system, Vista recognized it and its now up and running. My graphics and gaming graphics ratrings went from 1.0 for both to 5.9 and 5.5.

Cant thank you guys enough, now I just have to get my wireless and multi-card reader to work. :D

Did you uninstall or install any new drivers recently, and what ones?

I tried to install the Nvidia driver but that didn't work and I tried to load a driver for my Intel 4965AGN wifi driver but that didn't help it

I just got the laptop and it came with these problems and I am try to fix them instead of sending it to the manufacturer for repair.

My GPU is fine but my Wifi and flash card readers won't work (they were not working before I tried all this).

I tried to put my SD card into my media card reader and didnt get anything and my Intel 4965AGN network card won't work. When I first started my wifi wasn't even recognized like my gpu but I downloaded a new driver and now it recognizes it but my Device Manager says it is not working properly. My media flash card reader is fin according to the device manager.
