I need help.
About a month ago, I ordered my brand new laptop.
It was from HP, a dv6000 series, with the following specs:
2 Gigs RAM, TL-60 dual core processor (2 x 2.0 GHz), 80 gig hard drive, Geforce Go 7200 256 mb video card.
Decent enough to run most games comfortably, wouldn't you say?
However, when I try to run any sort of game at all, to any degree of graphics, even games that I should be running at more than full graphics, I get poor response, choppy visuals etc. I just honestly don't know what to do anymore. I have tried installing drivers through the nose, I have lowered sound acceleration, I have tested and retested every game on other PCs, I have tested everything there is to test in the DxDiag window. I have direct X 9.0c. My current driver version (at this stage) is 8.6.0.2
I have even reinstalled windows. Nothing works.
Is there anything anyone can possibly suggest to help me?
I am trying to play Titan Quest, I get poor response on the lowest graphics. Caesar IV gives the same. I can run Battlefield 2 on the highest graphics for a little while, but the ground goes all white in the game, then it either quits or freezes for no reason. BF 2142 is choppy and then freezes for no reason. Company of Heroes is the same.
Please, I need some help desperately. Thank you!
Feel free to email me.

First of all, the basics. The Go7200 is a low end card, so the 'choppiness' is very well probably down to the cards lack of power. Try reducing settings. Trying to play Battlefield 2 on the highest settings is definitely a recipe for disaster with the Go7200.
The white screen in Battlefield 2 is a rare problem but it happens. I've experienced it once or twice on my Go7400. Make sure when you're playing the laptop is well ventilated and also a cooling pad wouldn't go amiss if you're playing for prolonged periods of time. My Go7400 also locks up if I play for a few hours without a cooling pad. -
um the geforce go 7200 is like for movies not games dudeman. u should definitly research before u buy. not trying to put u down but if gaming was the main thing u were gonna do on ur lappy then u should have gotten at least a 7600 go.

You see, ths is why all computers are out to get me.
The 7200 was the best option that I could possibly get with my laptop. It has 256 megabytesof memory!! When I used Nzone systems check (you know, the one that goes "can I run this?" it always tells me I've far surpassed the recommended specs.
How is this possible, then?
BF 2 runs fine on the full graphics, it just freezes or closes for no reason whhatsoever usually after less than a minute.
Thanks -
I agree with imhungry29: you should research before buying a computer. The 7200 isn't a graphics card made for gaming. -

Unfortunately as mentioned the Go7200 is a weak (yet capable) card and it's not designed to power the latest games.
If you didn't format the hard drive on that laptop and reinstall Windows when you got it you should do that because the bloatware that HP loads on there can really slow you down. Check our Guides forum for a tune-up guide. -
I genuinely am surprised about how badly the card is performing. Is it XP that its running on?? If it is XP it should be running the games far better than it is.. If however it is Vista, the inferior performance would be expected as Nvidias drivers arent sorted for Vista yet... I would get updated drivers from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ to improve performance. I have my card running on XP and i have the 93.81 which have proved to be excellent.. There are newer ones available but i wouldnt recommend them as they arent as well tested.. As CHAZ pointed out, the 7200 is quite a capable card as long as you dont get too adventurous with graphics settings..

Well, he's already said he's trying to run Battlefield 2 on high settings with his 7200!
