You ran the test a 1680x1050. Of course your score is low.

Yeah, run the test at standard resolution 1280 × 1024. I recommend not running the benchmark at all. Just use your computer and be happy with it.

At 1st, i was about to suggest checking your power setting but now... speechless. 1680x1050!? Don't tell me you're expecting to run new games with that resolution.

    There you go.

Anyway, you wont be able to run most of the new games with 1680x1050 resolution on your notebook. So consider lowering them during actual gaming.

Feel free to refer here for more information about 8600M GT.

    [EDIT]

    Didn't saw your previous post.

Well, 167.26 is actually an old driver that has not been upload last time.

Get 163.75 which is the latest.

Try the 163.75 drivers instead. No guarantee that it'll help, though. :/

I did a quick check of the NP2090 Owner's Lounge thread and apparently the NP2090 ships with an underclocked 8600m GT. However, the 3dmark06 scores even for normal clock speeds are in the mid-3000's, apparently. For some reason I thought it should be 4000+.

Nobody listen to me; it's late. I'm going to sleep now. >_<

Nope, that thread is for both versions of the 8600M.
The IFL90 comes with a stock clocked DDR2 8600M-GT, which should score between 2900 and 3100 (depending on CPU) at 1280x1024. The GDDR3 8600M-GT scores significantly higher, because the stock clock speed of GDDR3 memory is higher. However, your score is right where it should be for your card.

You could improve them by overclocking, trying newer drivers, optimizing your system better, however, what I was saying before is that your scores are already quite good, there's not really any reason to think you need to improve it.

Lol you running at a higher resolution then complaining about a low score is like an olympic runner running a mile race vs a person running a 400m race and complaining that they lost...

If you want to compare your score to others, you have to run it at the base resolution giving you an even playing field for a better comparison.

Broadly speaking, yes, as long as you watch your temperatures.
