Has anyone with a go7300 tried playing HL2? What level of detail can i expect?

Is 1024x768 on high unreasonable? I play guild wars 1280x800 maxed out and it runs without any lag. I hear HL2 is a highly optimised game.

I can try overclocking my card if it will help though ive never tried oc'ing before. Anyone got any good links/guides for doing that?

    Thanks.

yes, HL2 works pretty well on a wide range of video card, Go 7300 handles it pretty well at high settings.
as for overclocking your card, I wouldn't recommend it, especailly for a laptop that attracts heat easily. Although if you are insist on doing that, simply google it.

I had a Go7400 in a review laptop before and I was able to play at 1280x800 with high detail - almost everything was maxed out. Once I pushed the resolution to 1440x900 it choked though, 21-30 FPS. A Go7300 is slightly below the Go7400 so it should be able to easily play at XGA/WXGA with medium detail. It will look nice. :)

I don't know why people run 1024x768 on 1280x800 screens. Native res won't make a big framerate hit, and it will make the game look a lot better than turning a setting up and using non-native.

Actually, changing res can impact hugely, especially on cards like Go7300 and 7400, where a few vital frames can turn a game from playable to not.

i only turn down the res when i need to like when i play quake 4. Otherwise i play guildwars, neverwinter nights and UT04 at native res.

Obv i'll play first time on native res and high and see how it goes but i have little faith in my go7300 :(

BTW, we have 3 terms here and the summer term is when all the exams happen. Just got one more to do now!
