Hey guys,
I'm looking to buy CS:S, I don't want to spend more than around $20. I was wondering where the best place(s) is(are) to buy cd-keys or the packaged software. I'm not down with used software b/c Steam is a lump of poo and won't let you transfer.
I was thinking about Orange Box (even though it's more than $20) but my only problem is that I don't really care for single-player games. I will play CS:S most if not always, but I would be interested in something like Team Fortress if I could get a reasonably priced bundle.
Thanks in advance!

Buying from steam is your best option.
-
Is it cheapest that way?
-
it's retailing for $49.99 right now so yeah.
-
Both Amazon and Newegg have CS:S have $27.99, retail box package which also includes HL2 Deathmatch and Day of Defeat.
You probably gonna get even better deal on eBay (probably used ones) -

uhh, keep in mind that the orange box is a series of 5 games:
hl2
hl2 ep 1
hl2 ep 2
portal
team fortress 2
---
keep in mind that i did not mention CSS in there.
---
counterstrike source can be had for cheap. your $20 budget should cover it.
good luck! -
I thought CSS came with Half Life 2? At least it's listed in my list of Steam games and I never bought it separately.
I'd go the Steam route, then you will always have your copy wherever you go no matter what computer you use. -
buy someone's account off of ebay (if you don't mind having a username you didn't pick). remember, that on steam friends you can change your name.
that's what i did, got hl2, cs:s, hl2:dm for like 10 bucks back when it came out. -
i'd get it from steam,
plus at the moment there is a sale on all steam games till the new year -
Counter-Strike: Source is exactly 20 dollars right now on Steam.
That said, I love multiplayer just as much as the next guy, but a great single player game is always better than a great multiplayer game. The only advantage of the multiplayer game is that it lasts longer.
At least, that is my opinion. HL2 ROCKS!! -
I'd recommend buying from Steam. I really like how the games are tied to your account and not your computer, so if you ever switch computers or even go to a friend's house, you always have access to the games even without the CD.

Thanks guys, I bought the little beast from Steam, worked like a charm. I actually had received the original CDs from a trade on www.goozex.com, the trader ended up gifting me HL2, and then I just bought CS:S, so for just under $20 I got both games, not too shabby

Nice! hope you enjoy them
I have way too many games form steam
