HL2:OB Release Date

I just saw a commercial on G4 saying that HL2:OB would be released on Wednesday (10/10) but Ebgames website says (10/9). I thought games like movies were always released on Tuesdays. When's the game actually coming out?

 

EBGames is listing the shipment date.

The in store date is Wednesday. But ebgames.com gives you the shipping date (i.e. it will ship out on Tuesday, so you will receive it on Wednesday, with next day shipping).

Games are traditionally released and available in stores on Wednesdays in the US (and I believe on Fridays in Europe).

 

It shipping from eb tomorrow. From steam it will be released midnight (pacific time) wednesday so 3 am east coast.

 

I just checked my order status and it says it was shipped about an hour ago. I had put overnight shipping on it, does that mean I'll get it tomorrow? And If I don't get it tomorrow does that mean I can get my money back for the overnight shipping?

 

Thats weird that they shipped it. I don't know, they shouldn't have shipped it till tomorrow. Email them.

 

Since you have to have Steam for activation, getting it early won't help anyways.

 

Valve is smart At least they don't need to worry about companies breaking the street date on them.

Wait so does it activate at the start of Wednesday, or at the end?

 

I don't care about getting early I just care about getting what I paid for. Cthulhu since it's to be released on Wednesday then it will be at the beginning of Wednesday.

 

Damn how much did you pay for 1 day shipping? You'' be fine. THough I have no idea why they said shipped. As long as you get it by thursday I think its cool.

 

One day shipping was 9.99$. End up being around 20 buck because I preordered Hellgate London and HL2OB same day and put one day on both. I'm not a very patient person. When I buy something I want it as soon as possible. Amazon on the other hand their one day shipping is usually outragious so I go with 2day lol.

I have to wait FOREVER on Hellgate it doesn't come out until the 30th. Though I've recently started playing GW and I've become worse than WoW addict so HL2 better be REALLLLLY good. Thanks for replying.

 

O lol I had no idea about hellgate (not an rpg fan). Episode 2 will be good. Valve has said episode 2 will be 20% longer. So it should be 6-7 hours long. Portal should be great a friend of mine got to play it. I'll see you online for TF2.

 

I dont think it matters if the stores release it early, as someone mentioned you still have to activate it on steam. It will probably be like the multiplayer pack i bought at best buy. It installs off the DVD but says its at 87% or something and needs to download the rest off steam.

Also, I know someone posted this, but i saw a Circuit City flyer that said the orange box would be available tuesday for $37.99. (saved $12) I think it was for the first week.

37 Bucks !?! How weak has the dollar become? In Sweden we have to pay the equivalent 60 dollars for the PC version of OB!

 

It's a sale; Circuit City (a retail chain here in the US) often runs special sales for the first week of release of a new game. The normal price for the PC version of the Orange Box is $50 USD.

You're lucky to get the activation at midnight, here in the UK it's released at 8:00am which is the worst possible time.

 

Well ours is 3 am for the east coast people. Which would be fine but I have a test at 8 that day. i get alot of free time right after so it works out.

 

im hoping that circuit city will be carrying this game tomarrow? it says on their site its avaliable 10/09 but obviously its 10/10... one more day till tf2... i hope my circuit city gets it tomarrow because i dont want to spend 50 bucks when i can get it for 37 . (it will save my money for quake wars when i buy it)

 

The date on their site is the shipping date. In store date I think is guaranteed by 2 PM tomorrow or something like that.

If your Circuit City is sold out of it, you can take their mailer to a Best Buy, where they will pricematch it.
