We all know that HP 8510w and P are actually the same machine. Even the bios of the two machines is the same. Somewhere in bios update , the updater decides which machine´s bios it is installing.

And since the HD2600 seems to be hardwired to the board, maybe the bios is controlling the gpu too.
A reputable guy from another board did tell me that in another context.

This made me a bit curious and i´ve tried and checked the bios file.
In there is a passage for the videocard that seems to list the core and mem speed 500 and 450.

Is it possible that the bios prevents us from ocing via software, since it seems it does control the clocking of the card itself ?

when you take a look in there you´ll see the infos of the card : m76 chip, ddr3, pci-express,HP video-bios v1.0 256 mb and the clockspeeds

I thought you could overclock the HD 2600 in the 8510p through software in Windows.

no, Kain. Nobody managed to overclock the HP8510p correctly. If you set higher speeds you actually get lower performance. So i think it really is blocked by HP.
But shouldn't it be possible to unlock the HD2600 somehow?

    @ shambles.ch

if this is really correct what i´m assuming, there is probably no other way than modifying the bios to get higher clocks.
and since the card is hardwired i can´t say where to to it. If the hardwired card itself has this clocking barrier in a separated videobios , were f****ed.
But if the video-bios is integrated into the main bios itself there might be a possibility.
