I will soon be getting an HP HDX 16t Premium series for use in college. I also intend to take my Xbox 360 along with me. The model of 360 that I have, is one of the more current models that comes with an HDMI port and cables (which I have been using). My question is, because my new laptop will come with an HDMI port and I have the cable that connects the 360 via HDMI from the console to the TV, can I display my 360 games on the HDX screen? It is a high resolution screen that runs at 1080p (1920x1080) and is running Vista 64 bit Ultimate. Do I need additional software to do this?

You need a seperate TV tuner for the xbox...
The HDMI in both the xbox and laptop are HDMI out -

Yep, ports are out only. Not Inputs.
The only was to imput it, is a TV Tuner, but are known to not work well with Game Consoles. Meaning, they get choppy, and not as responsive.
...So, i recommend sticking to a TV for your 360. Or get the games for the laptop. -
I need the tuner for the xbox or for the PC?

Just get a monitor on craigslist or a refurb from the Dell Outlet.

The problem with most TV tuners is that they do some processing which delays the video from Xbox to laptop. Try looking for low-lag or fast TV tuners. The most popular for a while was the Adaptec GameBridge. They stopped making them so can only be found on reseller sites. The GameBridge is probably the most lag free of any them, but now cost around $50-$70.

I advise you to sell your Xbox 360, not to buy the HP HDX 16t. Buy a NP8662 with a Quad and play all of your games
Edit: I have just noticed that some sites say the HP HDX 16t is Starting from: $999.99, for a little more, you can get a great gaming laptop instead assuming that is about the price you will be paying. -

Yea XBOX all the way, if you like it, keep it. But srsly, you can get a 22" ASUS monitor from newegg for 140USD. It will be much better than trying to spend 70USD to hook up a xbox to a 16" screen which will prolly only do 480P, due to the tuner card, and most likely be laggy.
HP HDX 16t Premium series, Xbox 360 and HDMI.
