I have an HP Pavillion zx5000 CTO laptop, and for some reason it likes to lockup during a couple somewhat graphically intensive games. NFS:MW and F.E.A.R. in particular. I have tried installing all the new drivers and everything. I'm running directx 9.0c. And i had a feeling it was heat related but after purchasing a nice notebook heat remover platform i still have the problems.... I was wondering if anyone could give me any insight into why these random lockups could be occuring. And just incase it matters, when it locks up i get no error screens it just freezes.

Hm...what drivers did you install? I would get the latest Mobility Catalyst 5.11's. They are the latest, released a few days ago from ATi.
Have you tried flashing your BIOS to the latest version? Check HP's support site. -
Thank you for your reply. For some reason, ATI decided not to add support for the mobility radeon 9200 in it's catalyst update, so it's useless to me
. And on an HP tech's advice i flashed the bios with the HP program to no avail... I have noticed that when i start up NFS : MW my temp increases from 45ish to 52 almost immediately so i'd hate to see what it gets to while the game is going.... I would love to find some program that lets me set my cpu's critical temperature......
