I'm wondering if anyone knew if HP/Sony/Dell and all the major laptop companies used DDR2 or GDDR3 for their Video Cards?
I read that it makes a major difference whether the graphics card uses DDR2 or GDDR3 but most stores never tell you whether its DDR2 or GDDR3 they just give you "ATI Mobility RADEON® HD 4670 1GB

HP uses DDR2

Not all HP notebooks use DDR2, mine uses GDDR3, but most do. Lenovo, Dell, Sager, and Asus generally use GDDR3.

Asus and HP mostly use DDR2, but a lot of their recent models have been using GDDR3. Typically higher end models use GDDR3, while budget models use DDR2. If in doubt, Google the particular model and try to find GPU-Z screenshots from owners.

So does anyone know if the 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 from Dell on their Studio 15 line is GDDR3 or DDR2?
Is the ATI Mobility RADEON™ HD 4670 – 1GB on the Studio XPS 16 line GDDR3 or DDR2?
Also the Sony FW line does the ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD4650 graphics card with 1GB vRAM use GDDR3 or DDR2? -

I know that both the Studio 1555 and Vaio FW line have GDDR3. I am pretty sure the Studio XPS uses it as well.

According to Catalyst Control Center my dv7 uses DDR3. DDR3 is slower than GDDR3 but at least twice as fast as DDR2.

So GDDR3 is faster than DDR3 which is faster than DDR2?

For Sony it depends on the individual graphics cards in each notebook. DDR3 generally though.
-
It should actually be GDDR3. Not many companies use DDR3 ATM.

Not all laptops from one manufacturer will use just one type of VRAM. For what it's worth, the Dell Studio 1555's ATi 4570 (both the 256MB and 512MB versions) uses GDDR3 memory, as does the Inspiron 1545's 4330. The Studio 17's 3650, though, uses DDR2, while the Studio XPS 16's 4670 uses GDDR3, and I'm not sure about the 3670.

Cant wait to benchmark these puppies!

This is making me hate the fact that my 3650 is DDR2.
