    HP dv7t + MXM?????.......

    I have a dv7t 1022tx with a 9600mGT...................i obviously think my GPU is soldered to my mobo................as is the case with HP always...........please clarify this 4 me.........one another thing.......if at all its soldered to my mobo what r my chances of making it a MXM based card and replacing it card with a 9800m GTX................i don care about the warranty etc...........i jus want to get my self the new card................

    If you bothered reading further into the thread, there should be a link showing a list of MXM-laptops.

    Laptops cannot magically transform into MXM-format laptops even they weren't designed initially to be compatible with the format.

    MXM compatible GPUs are those which are slotted so you can easily remove them and replace it with another one. But since, HP's notebooks have their GPUs soldered to the motherboard, there is no way you can replace the card without effectively replacing the motherboard. And that too if HP offers the same motherboard with a different card.

    To my knowledge, it is possible to unsolder a present gpu from the mobo and re-solder a new one in it's place, but not recommended.
    The problem would lie in determining which gpu COULD be put in it's place through such a method.
