I just purchased a HP Pavilion dv9608nr from Best buy. I didn't get the video card upgrade because you weren't able to buy it from best buy. I am looking for a video card upgrade and was wondering if it would fit the 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS in it. I'm using this one because its offered on HP's website for this notebook. If there is a better bang for the buck one, thats why you guys are here right? but I'm just worried the video card, if i bought it wouldn't fit because their wouldn't be a slot for it since my video card is integrated.

Is their a slot for an upgraded video card? or the integrated motherboard is different from the motherboard with a video card.

    Thanks.

Being a laptop the video card is actually part of the motherboard. Which means new motherboard. Which means big money, if you could even find one which is compatible with your exact model of notebook. And the chances of that are nil.

Upgrading graphics cards in notebooks can only be done in rare cases and/or specialized notebooks advertised as having upgradeable graphics.

Your notebook has an integrated graphics card soldered on to the motherboard, therefore there is no slot, and even if there were a slot you would not find a mobile graphics card that would fit since they all very in design by manufacturer.

The only way to get a different GPU is to get another notebook. HP don`t really do this kinda thing, since it`s more the bussiness division they take care of, and not the gaming one.

I am glad that isn't the case. I am not sure how many idiots will burn their laptop out because they are upgrading their laptop with video cards beyond what their cooling system can handle.
