I have little to no artistic skills. Stick figures are my forte and extent of my artistic skills. I should have done this a long time ago, but I want to add a watermark to a lot of my images, benchmarks, etc. I don't mind people sharing them, but when they show up in other reviews as if they did the work (primarily Chinese sites), it irks me. Share as much as you want, but don't be a jerk and take credit for what you didn't do. I don't even WANT the credit, but I don't want others pretending that they did it.
So in that case, I am having a little contest. Provide me with a usable watermark. When I pick a winner I will give the winner their choice of a $50 Amazon gift card or game(s) of their choice (up to $50) from Steam. You can post the image in this thread or PM me if you don't want to share, but please at least post in this thread that you PM'd me so I can track it. I may ask for some help to get it workable, but will try to be as low maintenance as possible. I will also have another contest when this is all done to have someone update some of my most recent stuff with this watermark. Details to come later.
You can put "NBR" in it but I'd also like one without it because I do occasionally post stuff outside of NBR (believe it or not). It would also be nice to have a spot to add the name of the sponsoring company that provided the specific review laptop. Just trying to give credit where credit is due. Once I've got a handful of choices, I will leave the vote to the people, although I have ultimate veto power in case there ends up being a trolling user base.![]()
Just keep it clean. It should be in transparent png format. I use Irfanview primarily for quick and easy image manipulation, so please keep that in mind. Please use these two images as an example with the watermark (one photo, one benchmark graph - just picked two randomly): http://i.imgur.com/KvyaeYT.jpg http://i.imgur.com/A44nGl1.gif
There is no real deadline for this, but I don't want it to linger for too long, maybe a few weeks at most.
Thanks for your interest...

Man, what happened to you? All your previous contests were about not doing anything and getting rewarded for it. You've changed, man!
Anyway, what name should we use. HTWingNut, Wingnut? Would simple text suffice or you need a logo? Can you provide examples what you want? -
May attempt a real one later, pending holidays.
Hope you get a really nice one- it's terrible to have work stolen.

LOL. I can do text over images... I'm looking more for a logo. That's why there's a reward involved. Something that takes some skill.

At least I think companies/people who make such things would charge you more, since you need a your personal logo to be completely made from 0, becasue using other
already made logos would be some sort of copyright/trademark/whatever infringement.
But I'll repeat it once again, ask Melody or whoever helped out with "graphic services" (don't worry people, nothing naughty) in the OT section. -
Great now I have that Robert Plant song in my head.. I'm in the mood for a melody.. I'm in the mood for a melody.. I'm in the mooooooo ooooo oooo ooood..

Meh, if it's just a matter of credit-where-it's-due; use image trace on some photo you like:
From then on run Google's Search by Image and trace down the buggers. With third party it's different, you're still left with transparent text. Just make a diagonal cutout from your own 'logo'/watermark.
That's a Colorado Blue Columbine, btw. -
This is what I have in mind
Enjoy

Time to make logo I have not, but try I shall.
My logo only took me 30 min of sitting and actually doing it one day, I quite like it now that it has grown on me because its simple and easy to associate.
Watermark <> Logo but one of the prime focus of a good logo is scalability, when its small in size it still needs to be recognizable, and as such there are no words or minor details that need to be displayed for the logo to leave its mark or be read.
And yeah I was lazy and just basically duplicated it for 4K Games but I wanted people to know 4K Games was associated with Vicious Computers and its just a side project so not as concerned with that one.HTWingNut likes this. -

I mean the logo is fine, bit it would be more suited for something like military news (well HT might get lucky and get his hands on reviewing a military grade computer hardware) and not so much computer tech, but that's just me... -
<s>Ill finish my submission when I get home, been busy with my finals but now that theyre over I have moar time for NBR</s>
I watched a CRT implode so it gave me a great idea....
Ok here's mine~had it up on Twitch for a bit lol, Happy new years everyone~
Kept it simple (somewhat)
I'll add NBR to it once I get out of the bath.
I realize that the transparency isn't really seen here so here's a preview on a darker background ( when overlayed )
gonna work on it a bit more and put in some of WN's appealLast edited: Jan 1, 2015jaybee83, D2 Ultima and katalin_2003 like this. -
Wow, that was a long bath!
Thanks! I was going to say that I noticed when I resize or use transparency I lose the wingnut!
Here's the extend of my work and skillz... lol
