Yep that's right. Free games. Call me nice, call me stupid, call me what you want, I'm giving these games away.
You can also thank Steam for offering up the gift packs this year too over the Thanksgiving weekend. So the games I'll be giving away will be from those gift packs. No, I did not purchase all of them, only select ones. Some Indie games, some big name titles. Sorry if you can't get the FREE game you want. Suck it up and play the game you win and stop whining!
There are two different contests:
For the first one, I am giving away multiple copies of 8 different games. One for each of Santa's reindeer.
For the second one, thanks to the collective donations of several NBR members we will be having a game giveaway on Dec. 22. This contest is called Rudolph.
You can join both games. Both games are currently in progress. See respective rules for each game below.
I am not affiliated with NBR or Steam in any way shape or form. I just feel like being a nice guy.
Why am I doing this you may ask? Or not, but I'll tell you anyways. I have been a gamer since I can remember (which as a goldfish is like 3 seconds), back to when I was like 6 years old, some 32 years ago (yes I'm that old) with the ATARI 2600 and home PONG console. I am an advocate for PC games and despite the "consolitis" phase we're in now, I still believe PC games will endure and continue to offer top notch entertainment for decades. I have also had some good discussions with people here at NBR. Even though we're all glued to our chairs, drooling on our keyboards, we still have some semblence of a community here. I'd like to give back to it.
So put your hankies away, and without further adieu, I bring you the rules:
(1) You must be human
(2) You must address me, HTWingNut, as "My Lord"
(3) You must laugh at my jokes, but not at me
(4) You must shower and change your underwear at least once a week
oh wait, here's the real rules (seriously, please read, and yes ability to follow rules is a requirement). Expand spoiler tag to read rules (click the 'SHOW' button if you didn't know):
RULES FOR WEEKLY STEAM GAME GIVEAWAY: Expand Spoiler Tag
(1) THERE WILL BE MULTIPLE COPIES (that means more than one if you're bad at math) OF ONE GAME TITLE available every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting this Friday December 3. The giveaway game for the next round will be announced after the previous round winners are announced.
(2) YOU PICK A NUMBER BETWEEN 1 and 1000 (yes one thousand, no you don't have enough fingers and toes) and post it in the Google Form linked to in the post below.
All games will be given randomly based on the number you choose. A random number sequence (one number for each game copy to be given away) will be pulled from Random.org or from my butt, whichever I feel is appropriate at the time.
(3) Since this is in the spirit of giving, please share a comment about something awesome you or someone else did that was unconditionally kind, or what you'd like to see done. Kind of corny, but why not.
(4) THE WINNERS WILL BE CHOSEN BY WHOMEVER IS CLOSEST TO THE RANDOM NUMBERS DRAWN.
If you choose the same number as someone else, then I will PM you and you will have to pick a number at least 99 away from theirs, or I will choose a random number for you.
In the case of a same difference tie, the winners will be chosen 'Price is Right' style, with 1970's clothes, music, stage set, and everything. No, what I mean is it will default to the person that bid without going over the number. For example, Johnny picked number 101. Sarah (who is hot btw) picked 1. Nobody picked a number in between. The winning number was 51. Sarah wins (and kisses me). In other words, it will always round down, or to the hottest chic.
(5) YOU CAN WIN MULTIPLE TIMES! Yes, you! Enter with a new number (or same) each round.
(6) PLEASE DO NOT ENTER FOR GAMES THAT YOU ALREADY OWN OR HAVE NO INTEREST IN!
I don't want to find out you already own the game and can't gift it to you. That would make Santa very angry and put you on his naughty list. I guess I'm ok if you ask me to gift it to someone else, but I'd prefer it stay with NBR members. And I don't want to hear you say "I didn't even want this stupid game". I'll have Santa stuff your underwear with hot pepper.
(7) YOU MUST HAVE BEEN AN NBR MEMBER SINCE NOVEMBER 2010 OR EARLIER.
I really want this to be for NBR members only as a thank you for joining the community and contributing. I just don't want users to join and hop on, spam the forums, take their game and leave. I WILL ENFORCE THIS RULE.
(8) WHEN YOU ARE ANNOUNCED AS A WINNER, IN ORDER TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZE, YOU *** MUST PM ME HERE AT NBR AND INCLUDE YOUR STEAM EMAIL ADDRESS AND GAME WON*** (especially important if you don't claim it right away). I don't want to have to make Steam friends with everyone, I'm not that nice, nor do I have time to wait online waiting for everyone.
(9) YOU MUST MEET AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GAMES WON AND TO ENTER THE CONTEST! I can not verify your age, therefore you must abide buy whatever laws (or your parents) dictate if the game is appropriate.
So to simplify:
Guess a number between 1 and 1000 every time a new game giveaway is announced on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. First giveaway is December 3, last is December 20.
Oh yeah. Last, but not least, there will be a contest ending December 22. Giving away games of the winners' choice through Steam.

ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE DEC 22 MEGA STEAM GAME GIVEAWAY!
I was initially only going to give away a single game worth up to $50. But many contributors have donated their money (and time) to bring the total giveaway pot to over $400. So also thank Reizo, ComputerMD82, Blake, ViciousXUSMC, and a few anonymous donors for their contributions.
We will be giving away a minimum of 7 games, and if the value of the first 7 winners is less than the pot, then we will keep drawing winners until all the money is used up! I will foot the bill if it goes over (i.e. we have $420 available, last one puts total at $450, I'll pay the $30 to make sure we have one extra winner).
Here's how the December 22 giveaway will work. The rules are a little different, so pay attention!
(1) CHOOSE THE GAME YOU WANT TO WIN UP TO $60US!
Enter your NBR Username and game desired to win worth up to $60US (cost at time of drawing) into the form at the link at the bottom of this post.
The game can be a single game or can include a game pack, but only single purchase items. Winners will be asked to confirm the game or game pack by supplying us with the link to the game at Steam. The game must also be released and/or available for purchase at the time the contest ends (Dec 22).
(2) ONE ENTRY PER PERSON!!!
If you enter more than once, then only your last entry will be counted. This will allow you to change your mind, but please don't do it too often. More work than I actually have time for. Thanks.
(3) YOU WILL HAVE FROM NOW UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST DEC 21 (11:59:59 PM 12/21) TO ENTER THE CONTEST.
If the form is not shut down by then, then any entries after that time will be deleted and not eligible to win.

Wow, htwingnut, you are the best of the best!
Well a week before this college semester started I posted an ad on the newspaper saying I would fix PCs for free. I ended up formatting, replacing computer parts, installing antivirus, etc. for 10-15 people at the end of the week. It was a nice way to get to know differrent people, and getting free meals... lol.

And soemthing to share: ever heard that even a smile matters? Here's a little personal history: a close friend mom used to have a store in a shopping mall, and my friend was supposed to attend it on sunday, so I went and bought some food to eat there. Finally my friend was not there, I knew there will be some food at home, so I decided to give the food I bought to a lady begging for some money. When I gave it to her, the she looked so happy ... and since then I learned that even small and insignificant things (to us) can matter a lot to other people.

HTWing! 694. A friend of mine's laptop broke down, he had lots of important stuff on it, and couldn't do anything to get it back. Offered to fix it, spent the whole night doing so. Slept 5 minutes, but managed to get the laptop to him before falling asleep in school

and a story well not a story but here it goes: I gave my gf a massage and helped her with the cooking because she fell from a stair and was a bit sore.
PS I watched the trine trailer on steam and I really liked the music, the medieval feeling is great, I just ended reading 'a song of ice and fire' and been kinda obsessed with medieval stuff lol, like got age of chivalry and been listening to ensiferum haha. -
