12/21 ViciousXUSMC - Deus Ex Human Revolution
12/21 SimoxTA - Batman Arkham City Congratulations!
------------------------------
Hello all.
This is my last and final holiday giveaway of this year! Unfortunately Steam nor any other online gaming site had super deals this year, so we'll have to make do.
THE PRIZE:
<s>Two</s> Three copies of Batman Arkham City (Rated T for Teen)
<s>One copy</s> Two Copies of Deus Ex Human Revolution (Rated M for Mature)
***SPECIAL THANKS TO LOZANOGO FOR HIS CONTRIBUTION TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL GAME!***
These are boxed copies, but I have been assured by Microsoft that the Batman key code can be activated through XBOX.com (they use that site for Games for Windows Live) then subsequently downloaded through their Games for Windows Live client. It might be able to be activated through Origin, although I have not received Confirmation from Origin/EA yet (go figure).
Deus Ex Human Revolution is a Steam Works game, so it can, and needs to be, activated through Steam, and downloaded through them as well.
You will be entitled to the actual boxed copy if you want. I will cover up to $5 for shipping, anything more and you will have to make up the difference. I do not know if these games are region locked or not. If they are and don't work for you, then you forfeit the gift (please be honest).
THE RULES:
***READ AND ABIDE BY ALL RULES LISTED BELOW***
(1) One entry per person, one game person. It will be a random drawing, but you will have to contribute to this thread. If you choose both Batman and Deus Ex, it will come on a first come, first serve basis. If you choose to enter for both, I will award Batman first, then Deus Ex second if both Batman copies are claimed!
Enter the contest by filling your pertinent information into the Google Docs form here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...mkey=dHFEQ21vT0p5RjRYVkxMMXJ4d0h1TkE6MQ#gid=0
View entries here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...HFEQ21vT0p5RjRYVkxMMXJ4d0h1TkE&hl=en_US#gid=0
If you cannot access Google Docs for whatever reason, let me know and I can/will enter your name for you.
(2) You must be an NBR member with a join date of November 2011 or earlier with 10 or more quality posts. I do this in order to reward existing NBR members and to prevent spam entries. NO EXCEPTIONS!
(3) You are of legal age and/or have proper consent to own such games.
(4) You have a system capable of running the prize games, and you don't already own them.
(5) There will be three random drawings. One each on Wed 12/21, Thu 12/22, Fri 12/23. I will randomize the list of entrants, and pull a winner based on that list.
(6) Prize must be claimed with 48 hours or I will run another random drawing. Although I probably won't award anything on Christmas Day or the day after because I do have a family and life outside of NBR. (yes, it's true.)
(7) Every entrant must post an *INTERESTING* (I am the judge of that) fact about the Batman universe or Deus Ex (doesn't matter which game you're asking for, and can be about video game, TV, comics, movie, whatever). Plus you have to guess a gift would make the person that posted above you happy. (I dunno, I can't be creative this year).
***UPDATE*** YOU MUST POST WHAT ROBIN WOULD SAY SOMEWHERE IN ANY POST YOU MAKE LIKE "Holy Holly Mistletoe Batman!" OR "The opposite of a girl is a boy!" - only posts after Post #60

Arkham Asylum breaks the Bat for pirates -Destructoid
"The problem you have encountered is a hook in the copy protection, to catch out people who try and download cracked versions of the game for free. It's not a bug in the game's code, it's a bug in your moral code.
Brilliant move, Rocksteady. It's nice to see that you are willing to go to a little effort in protecting your software instead of relying on annoying and sometimes gamebreaking methods. Kudos."

HT I will assume you have both games.. SO I would guess a lottery ticket with at least $300,000 after tax payout would please you. -
Interesting Fact about Batman: The original Batmobile was designed by legendary car designer George Barris and is based off a 1965 Lincoln Futura Prototype that Barris bought for $1 due to a need for a ready-made batmobile within 3 weeks of initial taping. See here

As for gift, uhm... damn this is hard to figure out... ... ... ... still no ideas... ... ... ... well I suppose he likes to make us here happy, so if we are happy, he's happy. So I conclude that as long as we are happy, what would be the best gift for him...Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
Lol, nothing like a schizophrenic talking to himself as two people.

It took a little time for Bob Kane to refine the Batman character. Nowadays, Batman not only refuses to use guns, but hates them completely. This is logical, considering a gun killed his parents, and ever since he has stalwartly refused to use firearms in his crime fighting. However, in early issues Batman was something of a costumed Sherlock Homes, doing more detective work than fighting, but still carrying a six-gun at his side on his night patrols. Bob Kane soon changed this, saying that Batman wearing a gun didn’t “Feel Right”.

In for Batman mostly, and here's an interesting fact about Bane:
"Bane, Surprisingly, is Quite Intelligent
Most people who know Bane unfortunately know him from the aforementioned Batman & Robin. And, yes, if thats youre only knowledge of Bane, its understandable that you may find his choice as a Batman villain in a new film, well, peculiar. And if thats all you know about Bane, you know that hes very strong. But in the comics, Bane is also considered one of Batmans most intelligent and mentally stable adversaries"
A gift that would make the above poster happy would probably be a triple screen monitor for Eyefinity plus an extra monitor to put on top and play some Wii.

Maybe a Katana!

Entering for Batman: AC
Interesting facts:
- The Wayne family originally made their money off real estate, now its technology
- The villain Bane is actually one of the more intelligent villains to grace DC comics, unfortunately that hasn't been well represented in video games, movies, and cartoons
- The villain Mr Freeze was originally called Mr Zero and looked nothing like he does now.
- A side note: Mr Freeze is notorious for looking for a cure for his frozen wife, Nora. Ironically, he eventually found a way to cure her via the lazarus pit but something went wrong and she is now a villain named Lazara
- Also Mr Freeze is one of the coolest villains Batman has - get it... -
Since I couldn't buy either of those games yet, I'm ok with any of them
And the facts:
-Interesting fact:
Harley in Batman Arkham Asylum has some sexy moves, especially when she does a lap dance, but the truth is, some of those were made by a guy when they recorded it
-Fun fact:
Batman not just has bat spray against sharks, but against barracudas, whales and manta-rays too!
(Click to play)
-Not so fun fact:
The spray mentioned above, make poor fishies explode
-Another not so fun fact:
Batman forgot to bring his shark repellent bat spray to Arkham City

A couple weird Deus Ex facts.
1) If you stick close to Simons, you can get into the cell and talk to the prisoners. If you kill the prisoners he will freak out on you.
2) You can interrupt NPCs who try to talk to you by throwing a grenade, then run away. This makes it easier to avoid killing them, and they keep getting angrier as they keep coming back.
3) To save Paul, you only need to get out the front door before he dies. You don't need to defeat every soldier.
4) The catchy main theme of Deus Ex was a placeholder, and the composer found it to be irritating. But he couldn't get it out of his head, and the theme was kept for its unforgettability.
5) The new Deus Ex had a problem with nonlethal takedowns sometimes killing the target anyway. Supposedly this has been patched.

One Batman fact I found interesting is that..
Batman was once thought to be homosexual, maybe some are still considering it until now.
Psychologist Fredric Wertham even had this to say about Batman, "Batman stories are psychologically homosexual. Only someone ignorant of the fundamentals of psychiatry and of the psychopathology of can fail to realize a subtle atmosphere of homoeroticism which pervades the adventures of the mature 'Batman' and his young friend 'Robin.'"
Even authors of the Batman comic books have admitted that Batman is a character. Frank Miller (He also wrote Sin City and 300 (which is also very homoerotic)) has described the relationship between Batman and the Joker as a "homophobic nightmare" and has said that he views the character as sublimating his sexual urges into crime fighting, concluding, "He'd be much healthier if he were openly ."
Some interesting images I found:
Another Batman Fun Fact:
Batman doesn't like chocolates!

I'm guessing Ritzy Cat would like to receive a brand new High End HP laptop with a wireless mouse to go with it as a gift
Opps since alexmuw posted before I finished my post my guess gift was redirected to Ritzy Cat. To correct it, here's my guess gift for alexmuw.
I bet alexmuw would like to win the grand prize at Steam contest happening right now as a gift. -

The Batplane, later known as the Batwing, is the fictional aircraft for the comic book superhero Batman. The vehicle was introduced in "Batman Versus The Vampire, I", published in Detective Comics #31 in 1939.
the batgyro, not to be confused with the bat gyro which comes with sudziki, and bat.
I bet that DropZite would like a copy of every Batman Movie on Bluray to play in his new laptop, which has pretty good specs if i do say so myself.
Edit: I bet that since HT posted while i was writing he wants a new cellphone like a droid RAZR so he can reply more quickly. -
Batman Facts:
I spent a year running around as Batman when I was five. I had a cape, swimming goggles, and of course a magnetic belt to fight crime. The only thing that confused me was the next door neighbour who also claimed to be batman.

Tilt, we all know you clearly want an HD-version of the following game for christmas:
http://www.addictinggames.com/sports-games/tilt.jsp -
i know, i'm still looking for facts and gift ideas
okay here goes:
Batman fought Dr. Doom before the Fantastic Four ever did.
This happened in Detective Comics #158 (April 1950). When Batman and Robin are bringing their 1001st trophy into the Batcave, Dr. Doom smuggles himself inside, so he can get inside their secret lair. Dr. Doom then rigs all the other Bat-trophies to kill the Dynamic Duo, only to die himself. There was also a recurring Bat-villain named Dr. No-Face, who's curiously close to the James Bond villain in name.
As for the ideal gift for the person above me I dare think maybe a shiny new Samsung 830 SSD to compliment his current rig...or something of metal which I have no clue about -

Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
It was derived from Deus Ex Machina, which literally translates to
"god out of the machine"
Deus Ex Machina was a theatrical device in ancient Greece whereby a god was lowered to the stage in a crane to resolve seemingly hopeless plot complications. Just another interesting fact. -
I know it's pronounced as you showed, but I always call it "DOOSE EKS" (like goose) -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Santa WingNut, You can call it DOOSE EKS.
The name fits the game perfectly though when you think about it, with all the Augmentations and the futuristic settings. They really do almost become like gods out of the machine. -
Harvey Dent was originaly Harvey Kent, but was changed to prevent confusion with Superman
And, the person above me wants an Alienware M18x w/dual 6990M's, a 2960XM, Dual 512GB SSD's, 16GB DDR3, a Bigfoot 1103 and the 1080p screen.
Or he could settle for 6990's for his M17x. -
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
If you'd add me into the drawing for both games, I'd appreciate it - China hates Google.
Not an interesting fact about Deus Ex, per se, but I've read through this walkthrough half a dozen times and it still kills me.
And I'm gonna guess Mkelliny wants Deadpool to let poor Han Solo out of that headlock for Christmas, but barring that maybe he'd enjoy a nice bottle of the Balvenie Double-Cask single malt.

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
Batman, despite popularly being a relatively realistic superhero, often finds himself in ridiculous and convoluted supernatural predicaments involving time and space, parallel universes, and alternate dimensions and timelines, and time travel.
I think it's pretty funny that it has turned out that way.
HT- we all know what you want for Christmas: introduction of "classic mode" in an upcoming patch for BF3
I just got sniped by like 2 1/2 hours...
Mkelliny, you clearly want a latin phrasebook -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
Lol,
EGO amo ut lego unus. (I like to read one) -
Of course it will never happen. After 100 hours BF3 has grown on me a bit
Still want better squad comms, really. In-game VOIP + Advanced Commo Rose would be great. Even just adding calls for medic and ammo would help. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
-
i wouldnt doubt if they did add that, after all they have been patching stuff like crazy and changing the game around quite a bit including menu options.

In the Batman comics, Harvey Dent is a white guy. In the movie Batman, Billy Dee Williams is Harvey Dent, apparently changing into a black man. However, later in Batman Forever, Harvey Dent is white, portrayed by Tommy Lee Jones.
