    Hi Gamers,

On this recent happy occasion of Half Life Black Mesa release, I wanted to share some thoughts with you guys.

I hate you Valve & Rockstar !!! But i love you!! :D

Yes, I started my real grown man gaming at the age of 15 with Half-Life and GTA 2. Until then i was playing mario, pac man, space invaders and all the other kiddie stuff.

I cant even explain how epic and engaging these games were to me at that age. In other words, these are the games that made me a hard-core gamer!

but these games also spoiled me in a way. I was hard pressed to find a good thinking man's shooter and full on rampage game for so many years. No game really grabbed me like HL and GTA2 for a long time. I was able to re-live that experience again in HL2 and GTA sequels later on, But the wait was too f**king long!

Although I do enjoy some great games like Bioshock, Deus ex, Witcher 2, Dark souls...etc, No new generation game gave me the same feeling as those 2. I will remember them forever. :)

I am sure there are gamers out there who feel the same. please feel free to share your thoughts:thumbsup:

True, HL & GTA were instant classics..
But what about series like "Assassin's Creed" or "Halo" ?
    Not captivating enough?

    Hockey makes me happy, yes.

I've been gaming since I was 4, yo. But my tastes have constantly evolved and I just would rather play the newer games in my library that I haven't played yet.

I totally feel you. Nothing can compare to the excitement I had waiting for and playing Half Life. I feel like all I've been doing ever since is trying to fulfill that same experience with some other game but nothing lives up to it. I don't know if those games were so innovative and good at the time and games nowadays aren't, or I was just young and had never experienced anything like that so it seemed amazing. Games today need to be really darn good to keep my attention.
I don't know... maybe I should just kill myself.

I don't know, I also loved HL, but I think I would prefer Crysis, did you play Crysis?

Deus Ex (GOTY Edition), the first game of it's kind (story-line wise) is what I consider the very unmatched epitome of gaming, till date! :D

Crysis is a just a great looking game graphics wise, nothing more. It is full of bugs and has some of the worst cut-scenes in the video game history imho

Also, It was not easily accessible to everybody with its beefy sys requirements.

OK, I lied before. Deus Ex is that game for me. Favorite game of all time. I almost died when I bought DXHR, I was so damn excited (we don't talk about invisible war *shudder*)

Yes, Deus Ex is a great game :D. someone should revamp the whole game with updated visuals like they did with Black Mesa

I would like to see them retell the story of JC, Paul, and Alex in the rebooted DXHR world. The world of Human Revolution is so much more vibrant than the original (which is not to say that the original is bad, it's incredible). I would just love to see the reimagined wan chai/hells kitchen/Paris.

Totally disagree dude, I think the hype which was building up to the point where you see aliens was unique in gaming history.. And cutscenes were not bad at all. I think it was quite on par with any game out there, and I am an old guy, so it is not like kid liking the new toy :) Anyway, HL was revolutionary, nothing revolutionary in Crysis, but I think gamewise it was better.

no offense dude, but i honestly think the cut-scenes suck in that game. You should check them out in YouTube right now. most of them are so bad and unnecessary, they look like they are from some bad low budget game :D

I disagree with you also. Crysis is still among the best PC games ever made, not just because of graphics and physics, but because of the story line also. The gameplay is unique, customziing guns on the fly is awesome. It's unique and the storyline is perfectly fine for a sci-fi alien invasion. I see nothing wrong with it, it's just fun. Same for Crysis 2 and at least CryTek allows you to create mods, and more than 5 hours of gameplay.

Compared to recent FPS games, Crysis and Crysis 2 defintely at the top of my lists.

My first game was FF 7. I don't remember how i came to pick it up, but 99 hours later it was love at first sight. I've never found another game like it (please don't mention the other FF games). It was just epic. God of war is good also, but different. As a result, i bascially stay away from hacker slasher games and go for fPs only.

I was where you are a couple of years ago, and I can give you one advice: Try a different genre.
I love shooters, but just like any other genre, it gets repetitive over time: Games of the same genre look and feel very similar (between 2007-2010 I played more than 100 shooters). Take the risk, try an RPG or even a RTS. Give it a chance.

Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger. And, yeah, Final Fantasy VII upwards to X. After that, Final Fantasy games became too cumbersome IMO.

I personally loved playing Counter Strike, my first real multiplayer fps, and still love it to death. Every other one is just copying it, Simpsons did it first etc.

Chrono Trigger and FF VII are definitely my favorite two RPG's. The feelings those games brought out were unprecedented and amazingly memorable.

Super Mario 64 being my favorite platformer. Can't beat the feeling of holding the N64 controller for the first time playing an all Japanese 3d Mario (Yes, I was one of the first to get the game in Italy by using a Japanese version of the game).

And Mario Kart 64 being (still to this day) my favorite racing game ^^
