So, will this wrap up Half Life 2? Or will there be more to come? I know the game isn't released yet just wondering if anyone had read where valve had said so or not.

Let's just hope it doesn't take them a year between each one.

Episodic content was supposed to allow for faster release of add-ons using the same or slightly improved technology. For Episode 2, Valve decided to rewrite the whole damn engine just to make it multithreaded.

Hopefully Episosed 3 & 4 will be out in three or four month increments instead of a year.

The performance of the mulithreaded engines will be revealed in benchmarks. I hope that the multithreaded engine can improve performancce. I am giving it a high hope.

Wait, Episode 4? When did that happen? I thought there were only three episodes planned.

Edit: Wow, learn something new everday:

" It was confirmed in April 2006 that Half-Life 2: Episode Four was in production, and that it would mark the start of a new story arc. Furthermore, it was confirmed that Episode Four was under development by a third-party studio under Valve Corporation's supervision."

Let's hope they never stop making Half-Life episodes.

Lets not. To me, it sounds like they're just milking the franchise.

Episode 3 is going to continue where Episode 2 left off. Episode 4 is going to be some kind of spin off from the main story.

I believe in Episode 4 they are going to bring back Shepard from Opposing Force, but this is just my guess.

I also remember hearing from a interview that Gabe said they'll keep making episodes if the fans want more.

I agree though, that they should stop milking the cow before they screw something up. Just finish the story and leave it at that.

When do you draw the line and start HL3 with a new engine?

Not really milking it yet. Story is still engaging and still alot of mysteries to be answered. Can't wait for episode 2.

Why not pre-order through steam? Team Fortress is so much fun.

I'm glad to know there is more coming ahead but I dread the wait after I finish Episode 2. Like someone said earlier in this thread it's a pain having to wait a year for the next episode. If however they do release one every quarter or so that would be great.

I preordered through ebgames. I can't play the beta however because of my internet. TF2 is out of the question for me lol. Portal looks great!

I just got my account stolen last week, and i said ****it and since i didnt buy it with creditcard i had no proof to fax to Valve saying the account was mine after it was stolen and all the info changed.

so i will eventually buy it from Valve but i figured i might as well wait since my Desktop im on cant handle Source engine well, and my laptop isnt here yet

So i will consider this my Break from CS and other games, which will rejuvenate my interest and by the time my laptop arrives i will be like a rabbit dog, foaming at the mouth and all wanting to play again ;)

How else can you pay for steam? I didn't know they accepted cash or checks.

I purchased my CS account from a department store with cash.
with that being said there is way to say i "purchased" that activation key, so it is impossible to prove its mine.

but when you buy from steam you pay with credit card and the activation key can be proven...

so i will buy from steam next time!
