Sometimes, when I load saved games in HL2 (could be proper saves or quick saves), the game starts with "A.I. disabled" message and all enemies/beasts are frozen! All I can do is roam about with nobody to attack me :(
Isn't "ai_disable" the only command which makes such a behaviour possible? I dont know how this command is getting issued!

I tried to open the console and toggle this situation by giving the command "ai_disable" again...the "A.I. disabled" message disappears but the behaviour doesnt change.
Anybody have any clues as to what could be done?

Also, few days back, I added commands -heapsize 128000 +map_background none in my half-life 2 shortcut. Could these be the reason?

LOL...ya even I had thought so but there is no command like that. So whats the way then, to remove the effects of "ai_disable" ? I have the full HL2 command list and I canot seem to figure it out.

Try ai_disable off or just ai_disable again. I don't actually remember right command. The solution was that you have to load older save point and then save again when you reach the point that was with ai disabled.

you could get some information off google how to tweak the configuration settings of the game. There is usually a file called "config", a notepad file, in thr program files

Maybe add a 0 or a 1 to the end of it. Like:

    ai_disable 0

    Type following in console (~):

ai_disable (toggles this value. shud be false)
ai_resume (toggles this value. shud be true)

The AI disable sign will disappear after a few secs

There are also some HL2 enhancer patches and fix bundles which remove many problems such as ai disable, elevator problem, sound stuttering problem, node-graph problem, give much faster loading times and also give a performance boost by including some great options in the config files.
