    Will Valve's 'Half-Life 3' Debut At E3 2012? - Forbes

Dammit, waiting long enough already. Just release Half-Life 3 now and then release Half-Life 4 when the next gen consoles are out...

No no no no no. Just release when ready for PC. If consoles aren't released yet then so be it. We shouldn't have to wait for them. We've been waiting 6 years now :/ i don't want another 2!

In any case I sure hope my NVIDIA 650M will be able to handle it when it releases. Worst nightmare is waiting all this time and when it does release finding out it's the next Crysis and kills any system that's not a monster top-end gaming desktop. Hope Valve continues their trend of scalability on old hardware.

I have honestly not played any of the HL games, but i have played CS and Portal (Yea..I know they don;t really have MUCH in common) and I know Valve makes amazing games! Especially TF2 :p

Next Gen consoles? The most probably "next gen" thing they're going to do is probably just making it smaller, slimmer or slightly more portable

Orange Box released for the 360 at the same time as PC. It plays just fine on the console.

I don't think the concern is whether it will play fine on console, but that it will be designed and optimized for console and ported to PC. Plus the Orange Box was a compilation of existing PC titles that were ported to work on consoles.

Regardless if it was designed "console first, pc second", Valve still does huge PC updates to their existing games. If you still decide to play TF2 or HL2 on consoles, you'll see the difference is night and day in terms of content and graphical updates.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that this whole idea is less and less valid.

Forbes needs to stop hiring morons. Valve engine isn't DX10 or DX11, it's still DX9. And Valve has stated they are NOT creating a new engine and they will continue to just add new features to the source engine.

Why would Valve care about next gen consoles? When did Valve ever care about having the best looking game? Sure HL2 had HDR, but that was about it. And now going cross-platform, probably care even less, especially catering to Mac gamers.

Plus there is no real news on when the next gen consoles are going to be released. Why would this moron would even say it's around the bend? Who said? Where is the source quoting Sony or MS that next gen console is around the bend? The only rumor I would give credence to is the next gen will just be refresh of current gear with DX11 features, to catch up with current PC tech. So making a game for PC now with the features it offers, porting to next console should be a breeze.

And plus again, Valve doesn't take advantage of even a quarter of the available tech on PC available NOW.

TF2 on Xbox 360 is inferior in every way compared to PC, and the PS3 version is even worse. xD
    Bring on HL3 i say!

Seeing as current consoles have a huge install base and that it will take time for next-gen consoles to establish a large user-base wouldn't it make more sense from a business point of view to release on the most popular systems? When have launch titles for consoles ever sold better than games (in the same franchise) releasing mid-way or at the end of a console life cycle? Halo 4 is releasing soon, why didn't microsoft wait to release it as a launch title for the next xbox? Pokemon are still releasing on DS, over a year after 3DS has been released.
