I'm a newb to this forum and I could use your expert's help.

I have the above-noted Toshiba. When I try to load up Halo 2 for Vista I get the following message:

.The graphics hardware on this computer is not supported for use with Halo 2 for Windows Vista.

    Your computer's graphics hardware information:

Video memory: 32 Megabytes (128 or higher required)
Supported pixel shader version: 2 (2 or higher required)
Supported vertex shader version: 2 (2 or higher required)

Halo 2 for Windows Vista is designed for computers running Microsoft Windows Vista with an overall Windows Experience Index of 5 or higher.

Please click the link below for more information on the requirements for running Halo 2 for Windows Vista.

To view this computer's performance information:
Click Start, Control Panel, System and Maintenance, and Performance Information and Tools.[/FONT]

Can I run Halo on the Toshiba with this sort of message or is it hopeless? Thanks.

Unfortunately as noted Halo 2 is not going to run on your Toshiba. You have the integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics card which cannot play modern games well or at all.

dunno why it wouldn't work, Halo 2 don't look any better than Halo 1. Halo 1 ran great on my Geforce 4 Ti 4200

Well, I have a Ti 4200 (seems to be a very popular card) and it has 64mb, and also has a 128mb version. The GMA is only 32mb. OP, if you're a programmer, you could probably make a mod or something like OldBlivion, only OldHalo2.

Unless you want to get banned from LIVE I would refrain anyone from doing that.

Well doesn't the GMA 950 automatically borrow RAM depending on what its doing? So in theory shouldn't it borrow 128 if the game requires 128?

That is the impression I have been given by some people I have talked to. How this is done, nobody has been able to say.

Other than the snazzy videos, Halo 2 is awfully boring. Halo 1 is much more fun. 2 guns does not make a game fun. YOu can't even switch between holding 2 guns to holding 1, YET you can carry three guns in total...You're made to drop one gun, then you're able to switch between single guns, then pick up the second gun...

There is a bit in the beginning of the game, where your warthog will probably get blown up (Should never have been made destructible). And the running through tunnels is soooo boring on foot.

The AI is messed up too. The covenant used to dive out the way when you threw a nade. Now they just try and duck their way out of its way. Seems they are scared of close combat too. Sometimes they don't notice if you're standing right in front of them.

    Stick to Halo 1.

Halo 1 ran at low-medium on my old GMA 845. Halo 2 isn't much more demanding, as the X-Box GPU is only around the level of a GF 3 (Which should be noted is better than the GF 4). You should be able to allocate RAM, but I'm not sure how- try either BIOS or the Intel Mobility driver center. If it's anything like Halo 1, there should be a way to bypass the warning anyway- I know that in halo 1 it basically told me my graphics card sucked, but there was a button to proceed anyway.

The GF4(not the mx ones which are GF2 with a newer memory controller) are better than the GF3 and the xbox one.
Both GF4 and the xbox gpu are improved versions of GF3 with 2 vertex shader and TnL engines, but the GF4 has more clock and don't share bandwitdth with the cpu
