I am thinking about getting an Xbox360 sometime. I haven't ever owned and xbox yet but I want to play halo 3 :D
I have a few questions though.
1st, Can I get an adapter for the xbox360 that will allow me to use a keyboard and mouse to play games instead of the joystick.
2nd, Is all I need to play halo 3 on the xbox360 a Halo 3 for xbox360 disc, xbox360, and hdmi LCD monitor/TV?

Thanks for any help and advice.

No you can't play with a mouse and keyboard.

To play Halo 3 you need a 360 with a HDD, Halo 3 disc, a controller, a tv, and high speed internet.

No retail 360 game (like Halo 3) requires the HDD.

High-speed internet is only required for online play--along with buying a live gold account.....

Get the Xbox 360 Pro System. It comes with the Hard Drive, the system, a mic, a wireless controller, and HD Component cables. You can use a VGA cord that microsoft actually makes and hook it up to a monitor or use the HDMI port. Just get the Halo 3 game and your all set. If you want wireless you have to get the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter, which is expensive. You can get them used for like $60 from Gamestop, but they are $99.99 new from most sites.

As for Keyboard and mouse, you cannot hook up your mouse to the system but you can hook up a keyboard. The keyboard cannot be used for playing games though, only typing. There is a 3rd party adapter, which supposedly allows you to use the mouse and keyboard for games. I don't know much about it though or if it works. I know there is one though just google it.

Oh to Tony A, yes it is a true statement that you do not need the HDD but you cannot play online or save your games without it. You need some sort of memory. You can get a cheap memory card, but I don't think it has enough room to save your Live Profile, Halo 3 saves, Halo 3 extra maps, and Halo 3 multiplayer profiles,

I'll sell ya my Xbox360 pro with everything and a stack of games, all in new condition :D

I never play it, and it's fairly new, I'd even throw in a gold HDMI cable.

But yea, just to play Halo 3 all you need is the console, a memory adaptor, or hard drive, controller, TV, and your good to go :)

There actually is a mouse and keyboard adapter available. I haven't used the most recent version, but the old one was not effective as a FPS controller. Mind you halo controls are scaled is response and speed for a player with a controller and not a Mouse/keyboard.

I am both a PC gamer and 360 gamer, at first the transition to controller was rough but you'll get used to it.

The XFPS pro is the adapter, plenty of you tube videos with it.

Don't know why you would want to play Halo 3 on an Xbox 360 with a Mouse/Keyboard...kinda takes the fun out of it, especially since this is your first Xbox. But I'm assuming your a Computer gamer, which I'm the complete opposite. :p Anyways, you can plug a USB keyboard into the USB slot of the 360, but I am not sure you can use it to play with it, or use a joystick (I mainly use the keyboard to type quick messages to Friends if I don't feel like sending a voice message).

If your under a budget, heres what you might think of getting:

    Xbox 360 Premium System Includes:

    # Xbox 360 Console
    # Hard Drive (20 GB)
    # Wireless Controller
    # Headset
    # Ethernet Connectivity Cable
    # Component HD-AV Cable
    # Xbox Live Silver membership
    # Xbox Live Gold 30-day trial

You are in control, and with Xbox 360 you have the power to make the decisions. Bringing together the most powerful hardware, software and services, Xbox 360 delivers innovative experiences that are always connected, always personalized and always in high definition with gameplay that far exceeds anything you've seen or felt in games before.

Xbox 360 with Hard Drive Includes:

    # Xbox 360 Console: Sexy styling that packs a punch - three powerful core processors are poised to pump out 720p/1080i output, 16x9 cinematic aspect ratio, anti-aliasing for smooth textures, full surround sound and DVD playback right out of the box.
    # Hard Drive (20 GB): 20 GB and detachable, the hard drive allows gamers to store their games, music, downloaded trailers, levels, demos and community-created content from Xbox Live Marketplace.
    # Wireless Controller: Hassle-free high-performance precision wireless gaming features the Xbox(R) Guide Button for quick access to digital movies, music and games libraries as well as a range and battery life of up to 30 feet and 30 hours of life on two AA batteries.
    # Faceplate: The removable Faceplate comes in stylish "chill" (white) and can be swapped out with custom Faceplates to reflect gamers' personalities or decor.
    # Headset: This lets gamers strategize with teammates or trash-talk opponents while playing games on Xbox Live.
    # Component HD-AV Cable: This connects gamers to the world of Xbox 360 games and graphics through high-definition and standard-definition connections.
    # Live Silver membership: With this, gamers can chat with friends online, send and receive voice and text messages, and access new content from Xbox Live Marketplace demos such as trailers and casual games from Xbox Live Arcade.
    # Live Gold membership: 30-day trial

This is the most chosen package for the 360 console. If you plan on playing Halo 3 in HD, with this package all you need is the HD T.V., because this package comes with the cable that can hook it up to your T.V.

Also, do you plan on hooking it up to your Internet for Online play? If so, that's a whole different story on what you need/how to hook it up, etc. But it's not to much trouble. Glad to help you set it up if needed.

Oh and to quote, you do not need to buy the Xbox 360 Wireless adapter to connect to Xbox live. You can also just simply run an Ethernet cable from the 360 to your Router/Modem and connect that way. Much much cheaper if your Router/Modem is in the same room, than buying a Wireless Adapter.

There are universal wireless adapters that are much cheaper than the "official" system branded ones.

Sound to good to be true and it probably is. Read up on the xbox scam section of ebay. You might just be buying the halo edition box, and I mean cardboard packing box.

noo im very sure that it includes everything, the checklist listed all the components and the seller is this internet store. The system is used but the site said that tests conclude that its working. The seller has over 100k reps and 98% positive so im guessing that its fine. But still, does anyone have any experience with buying used electronics on ebay? Do they mostly turn out fine?

Honestly, I don't buy used anything. I'd rather pay more for a brand new item than less for a used item. Also I don't buy online because of return issues, etc.

It's a risk your gonna have to take but hopefully it will work out for you.

im just gonna put this out there. i understand there's a lot of hype surrounding halo, and a lot of people play it.. but as far as online FPS's go, it is rather simplistic. TF2 and cod4, as well as many other popular FPS, are a lot deeper. i find halo fun, but it's not something i can sit and do for more than a few games at a time... and i'll almost always choose to play one of my PC FPS's before halo.

what i'm trying to say is... if you're buying halo and an xbox because you think you're missing out on something... you're really not. unless of course, you have lots of real life friends who play it... that ups the fun factor a lot.

Don't buy a used Xbox with their failing rate.

First option is to a Refurbished Xbox; they are safer than even a new Xbox.
If you can't find one, buy a new Xbox360.

halo edition Xbox360's usuallly go for over $450 on ebay for just the console and the one game with all the standard things. $99 is too good to be true! Sure that's not a starting bid? Because I'm sure it'll be up to $400+ by the end..

Infoseeker.. All Xbox360's are under a 3 year warrantee by microsoft. The process to return the xbox360 only requires the serial number, they don't ask questions, just your adress and that number. So as long as the person never modified their Xbox360, buying a used one should be fine.

You won't get another Halo edition Xbox back if it needs ot be replaced.

That's not my point, a refurbished Xbox gets an upgraded cooling system installed into them, making them more stable than a new Xbox. Plus they still got warranties.
Basically a refurbished Xbox = even lesser chance for red ring of death than a new one. Much lesser chance of having to RMA the Xbox.

Halo is all about the ability to play with friends. It's not the graphics, although they are decent, it's the game variables and customization allowed for so many different game types.

Currently there are not too many games for the 360 that allow you to play with 4 players on one screen. That's the downside to uber graphics. With Halo and or say Graw2 or COD3 you can have 3 friends over and have some decent game play starting with 4 players. COD4 local play is very limited and no friends on Live.

If you have a 360 with a warranty still in effect I wouldn't worry too much. Mine ROD'd and the replacement went pretty smoothly, although it did take about 3 weeks total turn around, and I still have about 1.5 years left on the warranty.

And as for 360's on ebay, take a look at completed auctions of consoles to see roughly what the market (price wise) is at. If the deal doesn't reflect those figures I'd be real cautious.
